Meghan Markle’s father refutes key claim from her controversial interview

Meghan Markle’s estranged father Meghan has hit out at another of the claims she made in her controversial interview with The Cut.

Harry and Meghan alienated family to 'control the narrative'

Meghan Markle’s father has claimed his daughter didn’t “lose him” and that she threw him “under the bus”.

It comes after the Duchess of Sussex revealed Prince Harry told her “I lost my dad” over their royal rift in a bombshell interview.

In the interview, the Meghan, 41, says: “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’”

But hours after the interview was published, Omid Scobie – the Sussex’s unofficial mouthpiece – claimed Meghan’s quotes had been misreported.

Scobie said Meghan was actually referring to the rift with her own dad.

It is still unclear who Meghan was referring to in the clumsily written quote – but the duchess’s estranged father has now lashed back at his daughter.

Speaking to Mail Online, Thomas Markle, 79, said: “She didn’t ‘lose’ me, she dumped me.

“I am not lost. She knows where to find me. My number hasn’t changed.

“I would love to hear from my daughter and meet my son-in-law and my grandkids for the first time.”

Meghan became estranged from her dad after he leaked a letter to The Mail on Sunday, begging him to stop speaking to reporters.

In the bombshell interview last week, Meghan went on to talk about how “forgiveness is really important”.

She said: “It takes a lot more energy to not forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive.”

But Mr Markle, who suffered a stroke earlier this year, says his daughter is all talk but no action.

He said: “If she really believes in forgiveness, then why can’t she forgive me?

“I have apologised to her multiple times for any hurt and pain I might have caused her.

“I love my daughter. She talks about forgiveness, so why not start with her own family? What about forgiving me?

“Every time she gives another interview it brings up all the pain and causes so much stress.

“I am still very sick. I am going to speech therapy and doing the best I can to get better, but it is all very upsetting.”

Mr Markle famously missed Meghan and Harry’s wedding four years ago after claiming he had suffered a heart attack.

He and his children have since gone on to repeatedly blast Meghan in the media, with Thomas most recently setting up a YouTube channel where he has discussed his daughter.

Mr Markle’s comments come as Harry and Meghan get ready for a UK trip.

The Sussexes are set for a jam-packed five days of engagements from Monday when they’ll be staying at their home on the Queen‘s Windsor estate.

Meghan will appear at the One Young World Summit where she has been a counsellor since 2014. There she will make her first speech in Britain since Megxit.
