Speaking with The Cut, the Duchess of Sussex took a fresh swipe at the monarchy, declaring that “just by existing” she and Prince Harry were “upsetting the dynamic” of the institution.

The 41-year-old said that while other members of the royal household had previously been allowed to step back from official duties, they were barred from doing “that exact thing”.

During Tuesday’s episode of her podcast The Megyn Kelly Show, the former Fox News presenter weighed in on the much talked about interview.

Ms Kelly launched into a tirade against the former actress, pointing out that the only reason people know who Markle is because she married into the royal family.

“Miss I-want-my-privacy has decided not only to launch the podcast and talk to Serena Williams about how rough her life is, but she gave an interview with some magazine called ‘The Cut,’ in which she once again rips on the royal family,” the Sky News Australia contributor said.

“The only reason we know who you are is because you married into the royal family.

“No one knew you as backup girl number 40 on Howie Mandel’s game show [US version of Deal or No Deal].

“And nobody but a few people in Toronto knew you from your show Suits.

“We were all focused on the hot guy who was the lead in all the advertising but we never clicked into watch the show and you.

“We knew you because you married into the Royal Family which you now cannot stop bashing just for the record.”

Ms Kelly went on to question the Duchess’ claim that the British press called her children the “N-word”.

“Who called her child the N-word?,” she said.

“If you want to scrub the internet for the nastiest comments about you and your child you can do it.

“I can do it right now. I can list you the worst things in the world.

“That’s not representative of the media writ large to where you give an interview and make it the defining characteristic of your relationship with this group.”

Meghan’s interview with The Cut has sparked controversy.

In the article, the former Suits actress compared celebrations in South Africa following her wedding to the scenes of joy when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison.

During the interview, the Duchess said a South African actor at the premiere of the Lion King in 2019 told her: “I just need you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets the same we did when Mandela was freed from prison.”

Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Zwelivelile ‘Mandla’ Mandela told MailOnline he was “surprised” by the comments.

“Madiba’s celebration was based on overcoming 350 years of colonialism with 60 years of a brutal apartheid regime in South Africa. So It cannot be equated to as the same,” he said.

He added that the celebration of his grandfather’s freedom was far more important her celebration of marrying “a white prince”.

“We are still bearing scars of the past. But they were a product of the majority of our people being brought out onto the streets to exercise the right of voting for the first time,” he added.

Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in prison for standing up against the government and opposing Apartheid. He was freed in 1990 and became president in 1994.

Meghan and Prince Harry met his widow, Graça Machel, during their visit to South Africa in 2019.
