Meghan Markle “never wanted to stay” in the Royal Family, a royal biographer has claimed.

During Sunday’s episode of GB News’ Real Britain with Darren Grimes, available to stream on Flash, British author Tom Bower claimed the Duchess of Sussex was after “money” and “status”.

“That’s exactly why she left, because she never wanted to really stay,” he told the program.

“She wanted the label, she wanted the title, she wanted the money – she didn’t get so much money – but she did get the status. And now she’s set on building herself up in America.”

This is not the first time Bower has accused Meghan of having ulterior motives for marrying Prince Harry.

Earlier this month, the writer appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show, where he alleged Meghan “always wanted celebrity but wants to control the narrative”.

“Anyone who gets in the way with her is ghosted and attacked, and Harry has become hypersensitive and hates the media and yet seeks approval from the media by going on Netflix or Spotify or Apple TV,” he said on the podcast.

“The contradictions and hypocrisy are enormous.”

Bower also claimed that Meghan was “hunting for a man in England” following her divorce from film producer Trevor Engelson in 2013.

“She wanted wealth and she wanted fame,” according to Bower, who reported that Meghan “targeted” Harry.

The Sussexes announced they were stepping down as “senior members of the Royal Family” in 2020.

At the time, the couple claimed that they wanted to be “financially independent”.

Since quitting the monarchy, the pair have opened up about their struggles in the Royal Family.

During an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, Meghan claimed she received no support from the Palace and contemplated suicide.

Since then, the two have signed lucrative deals with streaming services Netflix and Spotify.

Harry is also expected to release a tell-all book about his life next year, according to Page Six.
