Meghan and Harry’s best moments on tour
IT’S only day four but already the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s tour has had more heartwarming moments than a Disney movie — here’s the best so far.
IT’S only day four but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal tour has already produced some pretty iconic moments.
The loved-up newlyweds, who announced their pregnancy just hours after landing in Sydney, haven’t shied away from getting up close and personal with the public.
From greeting old fans in Sydney to accepting a handmade necklace, here are some of the most memorable moments of the tour so far.
Harry introduces Meghan to his “biggest fan”
Daphne Dunne has met Harry twice before and on Tuesday was able to catch up with him for a third time as the prince introduced the war widow to Meghan.
The two women shared a warm embrace, as Meghan told Daphne: “Hopefully next time we see you we’ll have a little one with us.”
Speaking to news.com.au, Mrs Dunne, 98, said it was “just marvellous” that her favourite prince was having a child.
“I think it’s wonderful … it’s what he’s always wanted. He will be a marvellous dad,” she said. He won’t let anything stand in his way and he will be so gentle and loving. This should be an Australian baby.”
Meghan meets her Australian lookalike
During their walkabout with fans in Sydney on Monday, Harry spotted a familiar face in the crowd — nine-year-old Sethunya Gibbons, who looked just like Meghan when she was younger.
Harry beckoned Meghan over to meet her doppelganger, who was wearing a T-shirt with the words, “Girls can do anything”.
“You remind me so much of myself when I was younger. And I love your shirt,” she said to her young fan.
The girl posed with her grandma and later told 2dayfm of the exciting moment.
“When Harry came over to me, he came over first, he said ‘girls can do anything’ because that’s what it says on my shirt,” she said.
“Then he asked me if I wanted to meet his wife so I said, ‘Yes’ and then he asked me if I wanted him to take a photo of me and Meghan.”
Luke steals the spotlight
On Wednesday, Buninyong Public School student Luke Vincent managed to steal the spotlight from Meghan and Harry.
The five-year-old, who has Down syndrome, got past security to give both of the royals a hug before becoming fixated on Harry’s beard.
Luke’s principal Anne van Dartel told 7News she had become nervous because the school had been told there was “no touching” of the royals.
“I was very concerned when he started rubbing Prince Harry’s face and his hair, but Prince Harry was completely gracious and was so polite and realised what was happening and his infatuation with his beard,” she said.
“We can only thank him so much for treating Luke with such respect who didn’t understand the situation. The way that Prince Harry and Princess Meghan interacted with him was just delightful.”
The Duchess bakes banana bread
Despite having an impossibly busy schedule, Meghan (somehow) managed to find time on Tuesday night to bake banana bread at Admiralty House.
The Duchess of Sussex brought it along with her to Dubbo and served it up at an afternoon tea with local farming family the Woodleys on Wednesday.
According to one reporter who tasted it the bread was “rather nice” with chocolate chips and ginger.
Meghanâs banana bread went down well! It has chocolate chips in and a bit of ginger (and I can personally attest to the fact that it is rather nice!) #Dubbo pic.twitter.com/LdmTN5F0ge

The heartwarming reason Meghan wore necklace
Six-year-old Gavin Hazel spent all Thursday morning making a necklace for Meghan and was lucky enough to hand his gift over to the Duchess of Sussex during a meet and greet at Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens.
Not only did Meghan accept Gavin’s gift but she also wore it briefly during the public appearance.
Speaking to news.com.au, Gavin’s mum Rowan said the young royal fan had “woke up with a cough” and insisted he have the day off to go see Meghan and Harry.
Harry and Meghan kick off their shoes for a good cause
After a hectic few days, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a more relaxed morning on Friday.
The couple visited Bondi Beach to take part in Fluro Friday, an event run by local community group OneWave where members share their mental health issues on the beach before surfing and doing yoga.
Not only did Meghan and Harry take part in the group’s weekly ritual but they also raised awareness for OneWave, with the community organisation’s website crashing moments after they arrived in Bondi.
