Meghan Markle’s half-sister has reacted to the royal’s podcast, accusing her of “emasculating” Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Sussex launched her long-awaited Spotify series, Archetypes, this week.

In the first episode, the former Suits actress told her friend, US tennis champion Serena Williams, about the horror moment she found out her four-month-old son Archie’s nursery had caught fire during the Sussexes’ tour of South Africa in 2019.

Luckily, Archie’s then nanny – named only as Lauren – was looking after the tot in a house in Nyanga and took the boy out of the room before a heater caught ablaze.

Meghan explained how she was then separated from her son and forced to attend a royal engagement.

“As a mother, you go, ‘Oh, my God, what?’” she said.

“Everyone’s in tears, everyone’s shaken. And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement.

“I said, ‘This doesn’t make any sense. Can you just tell people what happened?’ And I think the focus ends up being on how it looks instead of how it feels.

“And part of the humanising and the breaking through of these labels and these archetypes and these boxes that we’re put into is having some understanding on the human moments behind the scenes that people might not have any awareness of and to give each other a break.

“Because we did – we had to leave our baby.”

Samantha Markle appeared on GB News’ Dan Wootton Tonight, available to stream on Flash, where she shared her thoughts on Meghan’s debut episode.

“I have to say in several of the photographs I saw, Serena Williams seems to take her daughter with her everywhere she goes,” she said on the program.

“And I’ve seen many jetsetters who take their children with them.

“I wasn’t really sure what all of that we had to leave, you know, the kids behind was all about. I didn’t really believe it.”

Samantha went on to accuse her half-sister of “emasculating” her husband Prince Harry.

During the 57-minute show, the Duke made a surprise cameo appearance and had an exchange with Serena Williams.

Samantha called the moment staged and said “Harry seems to play second fiddle”.

“After the wedding was over, it felt as though Harry was in her shadow,” she said.

“That all seems very staged. Why have him in at all if he’s not being included?

“It just seemed very dismissive and I felt it was kind of insulting to have him included.”

Since its debut, Meghan’s “unfiltered” podcast has received mixed reviews from listeners.

Some praised the Duchess for her openness and championing of women’s issues.

While others thought the audio series was just another way for the former actress to talk about herself.

At the end of Archetypes’ first episode, Meghan revealed her guest next week is Mariah Carey, and that the series will delve into the use of words like “diva”.

Other guests announced to appear include actresses Mindy Kaling and Margaret Cho, comedian Amanda Seales, and author Allison Yarrow.
