WHAT WILL IT COVER?

According to the network’s initial release, the special will cover “wide-ranging” topics, such as motherhood and philanthropy.

We've already seen a series of bombshell advance clips, in which Meghan has hit out at royal restrictions and claimed "there is an active role that the Firm is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us". She is also expected to expose her rift with Kate Middleton and discuss the breakdown of her relationship with her father, Thomas Markle.

The interview comes after the couple announced they are expecting their second child via an adorable black and white photo.

According to CBS, the focus of the interview will start solely on Meghan before bringing Prince Harry in for further insights.

While the couple have remained tight-lipped about moving away from royal life in the past, they plan to speak “about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family,” says the press release.

“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work, to how she is handling life under intense public pressure.

“Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”

Harry and Meghan wed in 2018 in a ceremony that captured the world’s attention. Just under two years later, following disagreements with other family members and intense media scrutiny, the pair stepped away from their roles as senior royal in a shock announcement.

The couple have since moved to Southern California with their son Archie, and have inked a multi-year production deal with Netflix as their relationship with the British press continues to sour.

Meghan recently won a privacy claim against the Mail on Sunday after the paper printed extracts of a letter she wrote to her father in August 2018, and is now facing accusations of bullying by Palace aides.

WHY OPRAH?

Meghan has received a stream of requests to share their story, but it looks as though she was waiting for the right person, and no one makes more sense than the couple’s neighbour Oprah, who revealed in one clip that she's been chasing the interview for years.

Harry and Meghan have been close with Oprah since they were introduced by a US-based associate of the Duchess back in 2017.

The television legend attended their royal wedding in 2018 at Windsor Castle, and now resides in Montecito, close to where the Duke and Duchess own a sprawling $20 million home.

Back in December, Oprah shared an Instagram video of a gift basket she received from Meghan with products from Clevr Blends, a coffee company Meghan has privately invested in.

One of America’s richest and most influential women, Oprah ended her top-rated daily television talk show in 2011.

WHAT ABOUT THE QUEEN'S SPEECH?

The Queen has chosen to deliver a live TV address to mark Commonwealth Day on Monday, March 8, just hours before Meghan and Harry's interview. Her speech comes as part of a live  BBC broadcast in the UK on Sunday night local time - you can also find all the updates on her comments in our live blog.
