Footage of Margot Robbie using sign language to chat with a deaf fan has resurfaced amid her whirlwind Barbie press blitz.

The clip was filmed at the London premiere of Amsterdam last year and showed a man handing the Australian actress what appeared to be a sign language cheat sheet on a piece of paper.

“For me?” a surprised Robbie, 33, asked him. “I know it!”

The actress, who has kept her signing ability quiet, is then seen giving her belongings to someone else before signing the alphabet for the man.

Robbie then told him it was “nice to meet [him]” before they took a selfie together.

Underneath the video, posted on Twitter this week, fans gushed over the Barbie star’s secret skill.

It comes as the newly-released Barbie film has already proven a massive success, taking in $21.55 million at the Australian box office over the weekend.

Thanks to the added $9.4 million from the highly-anticipated Oppenheimer, dubbed the “Barbenheimer effect”, it’s now become the biggest weekend in Australian cinema history.

It follows weeks of a grand-scale publicity tour led by Robbie, who stayed committed to the “Barbie-core” theme throughout by showcasing outfits heavily inspired by the doll at every opportunity.

Earlier this week, the film’s casting director opened up about the Hollywood actors who turned down the opportunity to play one of Barbie’s many Kens.

Ryan Gosling has already earned widespread praise as the main Ken alongside Robbie’s Barbie, while Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa and Kingsley Ben-Adir also appear as other iterations of the male dolls.

According to Allison Jones, Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy, Dear Evan Hansen’s Ben Platt and Saturday Night Live comedian Bowen Yang were also approached about being in Barbie.

“They were, I’m not kidding, really bummed they couldn’t do it,” Jones told Vanity Fair, adding that most bowed out due to an inability to commit to the three-month filming schedule in London.
