Miley Cyrus and dad Billy Ray Cyrus have reportedly ‘cut contact’

They were one of the most successful duos in Disney history, but Miley Cyrus and her dad Billy Ray have reportedly had a major falling out.

Singer Miley Cyrus has fallen out with her dad country icon Billy Ray Cyrus in a row so bad that they have cut contact with each other.

The high-profile duo are understood to have butted heads after the Achy Breaky Heart singer announced his split from Miley’s mum Tish in April after almost 30 years together, The Sun reports.

Now, they have made a point of unfollowing each other on Instagram in a very public sign of their feud.

“Miley is all about peace but she didn’t agree with some things that her father has done. It has really escalated and they are not on good terms,” a source told the publication.

“There were words exchanged over what ­happened towards the end of Billy and Tish’s marriage, and since then, but they clearly see things very differently.

“Neither of them is particularly eager to make amends right now without an apology.

“The rest of the family are hoping it will blow over soon and they will be able to make up, but Billy and Miley are both upset.”

To rub salt in the wound, although he no longer follows Miley, 29, on Instagram, the country music star does still follow her ex-husband, Australian actor Liam Hemsworth.

Tensions reportedly emerged after Tish, 54, filed for divorce on April 6 in Williamson County, Tennessee, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

She claimed in her filing that the couple had lived in separate residences and had not “cohabited as man and wife for a continuous period of more than two years”.

The 60-year-old was noticeably absent from the family’s Christmas celebrations last year, with fans commenting on Miley’s Instagram post, asking where her father was.

Miley shared a photo of the Cyrus family on Instagram for Christmas, but Billy Ray was nowhere to be seen.

The father and daughter have long been close, shooting to global fame as a duo on Disney Channel series Hannah Montana in 2006, in which Billy played Miley’s on-screen dad.

But they have had their ups and downs in the past, drifting apart when the show ended in 2011.

That same year, Billy Ray said of the recently wrapped-up series: “It destroyed my family. I’ll tell you right now, the damn show destroyed my family.

“I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just everybody to be OK, safe and sound and happy and normal would have been fantastic.”

Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus took over the world as the father-daughter duo on Hannah Montana.

More recently though, they had become much closer again, and Miley has spoken at length about how important family is for her.

“I have a very intimate and close relationship with my family. But like all families, we’re also complex, but we embrace the fact that each of us are so different from one another,” she said in an interview with British Vogue last year.

“Me and my siblings, we’re a lot alike, but we also have big differences. And we just accept that and don’t judge each other. And our family makes unconditional love a priority.”
