Michelle Bridges spotted in public after drink driving arrest
Michelle Bridges has emerged after the drink driving arrest that’s “devastated” her — as an old Biggest Loser co-star speaks out.
Former Biggest Loser star Michelle Bridges has been spotted in public for the first time since she was charged with drink driving on Australia Day morning.
The 49-year-old TV personality and fitness trainer said “emotional turmoil … impacted my decision-making” prior to allegedly blowing .086 while driving her Range Rover with a five-year-old on board.
Bridges cut a low-key figure in a black cap and dark sunglasses, wearing tight leather pants and a denim vest.
Bridges was allegedly caught mid-range drink driving after being stopped at 11.25am on Australia Day for a roadside random breath test. Following her arrest, The Daily Telegraph published a statement from Bridges saying recent weeks had been “a very difficult time … dealing with the break-up of my long-term relationship”.
Bridges apologised, saying she was “absolutely devastated and embarrassed”.
Bridges had been in a relationship with her former Biggest Loser co-star, trainer Steve “Commando” Willis, since 2012. The couple have a five-year-old son, Axel.
It comes as Bridges’ former The Biggest Loser colleague, Ajay Rochester, today said she hoped she got “the help she needs”.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Rochester said that Bridges’ recent split from Willis was no excuse for the alleged incident.
“We all have our burdens, relationship breakups … Sadly a lot of drink drivers do more harm to others – innocent people going about their lives,” she told the outlet, noting that “a 0.086 range at 11am is a much bigger issue than a few drinks after work.”
“So hopefully this is a wake-up call to her and maybe she will get the help she needs and hopefully never again risk the lives of others.”
Rochester hosted The Biggest Loser from 2006 to 2008, falling out spectacularly with the show — and repeatedly dissing Bridges in public — after her departure.
In 2016 Rochester shared a memorable Instagram post of her rear end alongside a caption urging Bridges to “kiss my fat happy ass” after the trainer told the ABC she had “never met a happy, morbidly obese person”.
In an accompanying blog post Rochester accused Bridges of being “fat-phobic”, also accusing her and Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton of making “fat jibes and comments” about her appearance.
Prior to her stint on last year’s season of I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here, Rochester told Woman’s Day she would “get a fork and stab myself” if Bridges made an appearance on the reality show.
“I’d prefer Satan,” she added.
