Karl Stefanovic made a not-so-subtle reference to his infamous Noosa scuffle with Michael Clarke during a cheeky conversation on the Today show.

The Nine presenter was interviewing the UK Daily Telegraph’s associate editor, Camilla Tominey, about Prince Harry’s complaint in court this week that he was bombarded by press in the Queensland town during his gap year in 2003.

“He basically suggested the only way a photographer or a newspaper could have found out is if [his phone] was hacked,” Tominey explained.

“[However] you and I know if Prince Harry turned up in Noosa with an entourage, everyone would know about it and someone would phone a local paper and the next thing, the place would be swarming with photographers.”

Longtime friends Stefanovic and former cricketer Clarke made headlines in January after being filmed by a bystander during an argument in Noosa.

The high-profile men were holidaying with their partners, sisters Jasmine Stefanovic and Jade Yarbrough, when a fight broke out between Yarbrough and Clarke over his alleged infidelity.

In iPhone footage which went viral, the socialite screamed obscenities at her boyfriend, accusing him of cheating with his ex-girlfriend, Pip Edwards, before Clarke turned on Stefanovic when he tried to intervene.

“Karlos, I can tell you now c**t, don’t you f**king look away,” the former sports star can be heard shouting while limping after reportedly injuring his hamstring in the scuffle.

The grainy video was later sold to the media.

While Tominey clearly had no idea of the significance of the location, Stefanovic was quick to reference his own troubled time there.

“You’re 100 per cent right about Noosa – I mean everyone has got a phone there as well,” he joked.

His Today co-host Sarah Abo couldn’t resist jumping in with a dig of her own, adding: “Clearly, Camilla doesn’t read the Australian tabloids.”

It’s not the first time Stefanovic has made a cheeky reference to the infamous scuffle on the show.

Just days after the wild footage was released, sports presenter Alex Cullen had a dig while reporting on Novak Djokovic’s hamstring injury at the Australian Open.

“All of this talk about Novak’s hamstring has made me really want to stretch mine,” Cullen joked.

“I fear I won’t be able to get out of this position with my very tight pants. Very tight pants.”

He then claimed to be stuck in the stretching position.

“It is all about the deep heat. I have seen that kind of injury before,” Stefanovic replied before turning to weather reporter Tim Davies.

“Karlos, it is all about pulling your hammy at the moment. It is very on trend these days,” Davies said.
