Karl Stefanovic reveals 5kg weight loss live on Today show
Karl Stefanovic has vowed to lose a total of 15kg – and he’s taking the nation on his weight loss journey with him.
Karl Stefanovic is embarking on a very public weight loss challenge – sharing his goal to lose a total of 15kg live on the Today Show.
Five weeks into a 10-week challenge, the new dad is already on his way there, having lost 5kg already.
Karl, 45, who welcomed baby girl Harper May with wife Jasmine Yarbrough last month, first weighed in live on the show at 105kg.

Stepping onto the scales this week, the scaled read 100kg, much to his and co-host Allison Langdon’s delight.
But he added it wasn’t without its difficulties.
As Karl jumped on the scales, he spoke of the discomfort of weighing himself on television.
“It kind of feels weird and uncomfortable and embarrassing to get on the scales in front of the nation, but I’m doing this for all you out there and for myself,” Karl told viewers.
With obesity expert Dr. Nick Fuller’s help, the Channel 9 TV personality vowed to keep going on his path of healthy living to reach a goal weight of 90kg.
“I started at 105kg, the heaviest I’ve ever been and it was incredibly embarrassing,” Karl said.
“I’d like to get down to 90kg at the end of all this. You don’t think that is important but for me, it’s a big psychological thing,” he said, after admitting he’s found changing his eating habits tricky.
Dr Fuller told Karl, “The biggest thing is definitely your health and your increase in vitality.”
He went on to praise the star for being a “role model” for others looking to change their lifestyles.
“It’s very confronting for anyone, let alone a national TV celebrity to jump on the scales and take the entire national audience on that journey with them,” he said.
“And the second thing is, no males ever do it. Often females put their hands up and say, ‘I have a weight problem and I’m going to do something about it’ and that’s very courageous.
“But it’s very rare that men do, because they often wait for a serious health scare.”
Karl’s new found focus on health comes after the star poked fun at his post-Christmas food baby last year when publicly announcing he was expecting a child with Jasmine.
“After a great deal of speculation … the rumours are true,” he captioned a shirtless paparazzi picture on the beach in Byron Bay.
Dr Fuller revealed the surprisingly easy Interval Weight Loss (IWL) diet he gave Karl to shed the pounds, which even includes carbs and the odd cheat meal.
Karl has been tasked with eating a bigger breakfast, such as an omelette on wholegrain toast, bigger lunch, such as a salad with quinoa, and small dinner.
Dr Fuller suggested using chopsticks at night to avoid wolfing down a big meal, while treats like chocolate or take away should be a once a week indulgence.
“As long as it’s balanced with a carb, protein, and healthy fat, to tick off for every meal,” Dr. Fuller told Daily Mail Australia.
Last month, during his first show back after the birth of his daughter on May 1, Karl admitted he was “struggling a bit” juggling a newborn and the gruelling breakfast television schedule.
“How are you going on your first day back, Karl?” Today co-host Ally Langdon asked her returning colleague.
“I’ve been struggling a bit, to be honest,” he said.
“Emotionally? Physically?” she asked.
“Everything hurts. I’m tired. Emotional,” he said with a chuckle.
Stefanovic told Today viewers his week off had been “wonderful”, and was full of praise for his new daughter.
“I know they call it the bubble in the first couple of weeks but Harper may the bubble continue,” he said.
“She is so gorgeous – 2.9 kilos of just scrumptious delight. She‘s sleeping OK, three hours on, three hours off.
“Jasmine has just taken it in her stride, she is feeding really well. It makes me cry already,” he said, struggling to contain his emotions.
Stefanovic and ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn share three children: Jackson, 20, Ava, 15 and River, 12.
He admitted it was a bit of a shock to be changing nappies again after more than a decade.
