Today host’s emotional tribute to new wife Jasmine Yarbrough

Karl Stefanovic has paid a touching tribute to his 34-year-old wife at their star-studded wedding, calling her his “saviour” and his “rock”.

Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough’s lavish wedding reception took an emotional turn when the Today host toasted his bride.

Speaking before 200 guests, the 44-year-old veteran reporter touched on the strain the couple had been under for the past two years.

The pair have been under intense scrutiny since Stefanovic’s shock split with wife of 21 years Cassandra Thorburn — the mother of his three children, River, 12, Ava, 13, and Jackson, 19.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald’s Private Sydney column, the eldest Stefanovic brother became emotional while describing how his 34-year-old wife had supported him over the past two years, calling her his “rock”.

He also credited his bride with staying strong in the face of enormous media attention and ongoing gossip.

“Jasmine, you have taken on enormous stress with me, you have taken on another family, media and social criticism that would break most — you’ve weathered it,” he said.

“You stand tall, you stand strong, you stand up and keep walking.

The bridal party included Jasmine Yarbrough’s high school friends Sarah Johnson, Sophie Pentland, Jimilla Houghton, Stoj Bulic and Georgie Fleming, sister Jade Yarbrough and business partner Tamie Ingham while groomsmen included Tom Stefanovic, Josh Yarbrough, Mick Doonan, Peter Stefanovic and Steve Marshall.

“Everyone needs a Jasmine in their life … if they have it they’re the luckiest people in the world.

“You are my rock, you are my saviour, you put me back together. I’m a better person because of you, a better friend, a better dad — tonight I celebrate and toast you Jasmine my wife.”

According to 9 Honey, the happy couple were also treated to speeches from the bride’s father Bob and sister Jade and the groom’s mother Jenny and brothers Peter and Tom.

Best man Ben Tilley also took the microphone, as did the bride’s best friend Georgie Fleming.

The newlyweds’ first dance was to Van Morrison’s Tupelo Honey while guests were treated to Mexican delicacies, a special “Bundy bar” featuring their own blend of Bundaberg Rum and even fireworks.

Meanwhile, the shoe designer bride opted for a fashion-forward, short gown by designer and close friend Jess Andreatta while the groom opted for a two-toned Tom Ford tuxedo paired with boots by RM Williams.

The proceedings were officiated by Karl’s sister, Elisa Pointon.
