Taylor Swift’s rumoured boyfriend Travis Kelce lifts lid on couple’s headline-making date night
Taylor Swift’s rumoured new boyfriend has given his first interview after the couple’s headline-making date night, and he didn’t hold back on details.
Taylor Swift’s rumoured new boyfriend Travis Kelce has spoken out about the pair’s headline-making date night on Sunday.
The US pop star, 33, attended Kelce’s Kansis City Chiefs game at the weekend to immense fanfare, with Swift photographed cheering for the American tight-end from a private box with his family.
Afterwards, the two hired out a restaurant in the Kansas City, Missouri area and enjoyed a private afterparty with the NFL team, in what also marked the first public sighting of the couple together.
Speaking on his weekly podcast New Heights, Kelce dubbed his high-profile new love interest “ballsy” for making the very public debut.
“Shout out to Taylor for pulling up. That was pretty ballsy,” he told his co-host and brother, Jason Kelce.
“I just thought it was awesome how everyone in the suite had nothing but great things to say about her. The friends and family. She looked amazing, everybody was talking about her in a great light.
“On top of that, the day went perfect for Chiefs fans of course. We script it all ladies and gentlemen. It was just impressive …
“To see the slow motion chest bumps, to see the high fives with [his] mum, to see how the Chiefs kingdom was all excited she was there, that s**t was absolutely hysterical, it was definitely a game I’ll remember, that’s for damn sure.
“And then we just slid off in the getaway car in the end,” Kelce added, referencing photos of the pair leaving the stadium in a convertible.
Kelce, also 33, also touched on the attention surrounding his private life, revealing paparazzi were now frequently camping outside his home.
He conceded he brought the spotlight on himself, having publicly pursued Swift in July after attending her Eras Tour, where he attempted to give the Grammy winner his mobile number on a bracelet.
Kelce later spoke on his podcast about how he failed to meet Swift after her concert, claiming the singer doesn’t allow guests in a bid to protect her singing voice.
“I know that I brought all this attention to me, I’m the one that did the whole friendship bracelet thing and told everybody how butthurt I was that I didn’t get to meet Taylor,” he said on Thursday’s episode of the podcast.
“What’s real is that it is my personal life. I want to respect both of our lives. She’s not [talking] in the media as much as I am, doing this show every single week and having fun during the NFL season doing other guys’ shows and any other show I go on from here on out.
“I’m enjoying life and I sure as hell enjoyed this weekend. So everything moving forward, I think talking about sports and saying ‘all right now’ will have to be kind of where I keep it.”
It’s understood the pair have been quietly dating for the past month.
However, the excitement surrounding their blossoming relationship hit a road bump on Wednesday when Kelce’s ex-girlfriend issued a public warning to Swift.
Influencer Maya Benberry, who dated Kelce for several months in 2016, claimed Kelce cheated on her during their brief romance.
“Once a cheater, always a cheater,” Benberry told DailyMail.com.
“Taylor seems like such a fun girl with a beautiful spirit so I wish her the best of luck, but I wouldn’t be a girls’ girl if I didn’t advise her to be smart.
“I’m sure by now she has mastered the ability to see who is really there for her, and who is just using her.”
