Newly single Jessica Simpson comments on Jeremy Renner’s thirst traps 15 years after romance rumours

Newly single Jessica Simpson has been leaving flirty messages on an A-lister’s videos as it’s revealed the pair hooked up back in the day.

She’s single and ready to mingle.

Jessica Simpson was caught leaving flirty comments on Jeremy Renner’s workout videos following her split from her husband, Eric Johnson.

Earlier this month, netizens noticed that the With You singer, 44, left a fire emoji underneath an Instagram video of the Hawkeye star, 54, shirtless in a gym.

While Renner didn’t reply to the praise, he notably “liked” the comment.

Then, over the weekend, Simpson left another message below a clip of the actor exercising with his mother, Valerie Cearley.

The singer also left a flirty comment on the actor’s workout video featuring his mum.

Renner, once again, ditched his shirt in the clip as he and his mum completed an ab circuit in a garage.

“I love this oh my … Mama is STRONG … I need to go do sit ups now,” the Irresistible singer wrote.

Simpson has “liked” nearly all of Renner’s posts since late January — the same month she confirmed her separation from Johnson, 45.

The Avengers star returned the love following the release of Simpson’s new EP, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1.

After the fashion designer dropped the country project last week, Renner commented on her announcement, “Congrats Jess !!!”

The back-and-forth comes 15 years after the two first sparked romance rumours.

Back in 2010, People reported that Renner and Simpson had been spotted “flirting up a storm” at a cocktail party.

“Jeremy spent the night hitting on Jessica like crazy,” a spy told the magazine at the time, also claiming the stars had exchanged numbers at the event.

However, the Hurt Locker actor later denied reports that they were dating.

Although things did not work out then, both Renner and Simpson are coming out of recent relationships.

Last month, Page Six exclusively revealed that the Marvel star dated fashion influencer Cassandra “CC” Mason, who is 28 years his junior, “off and on” throughout 2024.

However, they split for good toward the end of the year after eight months of dating.

While Renner is very private about his love life, he was married to Sonni Pacheco from 2014 to 2015. The exes found themselves in a years-long custody battle over their soon-to-be 12-year-old daughter, Ava Berlin, after their split.

In the years that followed, Renner was linked to Eiza González and hairdresser Amber Monson.

Meanwhile, Simpson ended her 10-year marriage. In January, the Dukes of Hazzard star announced that she and Johnson had “been living separately” while “navigating a painful situation” in their relationship.

The former couple seems to be moving full steam ahead with the split, as they have already put their $US18 million ($28 million) home on the market.

While she and the former NFL star did not reveal the reason for their split, Simpson hints at infidelity in one of the songs on her new EP.

“What we had was magic / Now you made it tragic / Giving her what you gave to me / Now the well that you drank from’s empty,” she sings in the opening lines of Leave.

Simpson also refers to her marriage with the former athlete as an “unholy matrimony” and says his “weakness” made her “lonely.”

She performed the fiery song during her first concert in 15 years, telling the crowd that her world was turned “upside down” after realising their marriage was over.

“You know, when we open our hearts, sometimes we’re vulnerable and it just gets broken and maybe sometimes we forget that we’ve been broken for a really long time,” she cryptically said before launching into the scathing track.

The exes share three children: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.
