Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest relationship split might be the proof we need to confirm that the man doesn’t date women over the age of 25. Red flag alert!

DiCaprio recently broke up with his model girlfriend Camila Morrone after five years together. The catch? She turned 25 a couple of months ago.

It’s long been reported that DiCaprio doesn’t date women over the age of 25. A chart that went viral a few years ago pointed out that the actor, 47, doesn’t have romantic relationships with women once they reach a quarter of a century.

It’s such common knowledge that plenty of tweets have gone viral of women announcing on their 25th birthday that they are now too old to date Leo. Funny, yes! But also, kind of depressing to associate 25 with being too old to date a movie star who is decades older than you.

DiCaprio’s public relationships have shown a strong pattern. He usually dates models (with the occasional actress thrown in), they are always in their early 20s, and the relationship always seems to end once they turn 25. Morrone slightly bucked the trend when they didn’t break up before she turned 25, but they clearly didn’t get to the 26 mark.

DiCaprio has also dated some very famous women. From Blake Lively to Bar Refaeli to Nina Agdal. These women have all gone on to date other people, often settling down and having children. Meanwhile, DiCaprio has gone on to continue dating women in their early 20s. DiCaprio is literally the kind of man Taylor Swift sings about when she bangs out this killer line, “And the punchline is I’ll get older, but your lovers will stay my age!”

DiCaprio’s apparent preference for younger women has long been the butt of jokes. At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, Ricky Gervais joked, “Leonardo DiCaprio attended the premiere [of three-hour-long Once Upon a Time in Hollywood] and by the end, his date was too old for him.”

Meanwhile, Amy Schumer quipped at this year’s Oscars: “Leonardo DiCaprio is doing so much for the planet. He will leave it in a better shape for his girlfriends.”

Basically, jokes aside, it’s common knowledge that DiCaprio likes to date women decades younger than him. So, we can’t put this down to love is just love, and age doesn’t matter. He clearly has a type, and it’s someone more vulnerable and less powerful – and isn’t that just a red flag?

The hottest women in the world surround him as a side effect of his job, yet he never goes for a woman over 30. Surely, that can’t be a coincidence?

But, truthfully, DiCaprio’s obsession with dating younger women isn’t really something to be joked about.

It normalises a culture where wealthy, powerful men pursue relationships with women less powerful than themselves, emotionally and financially. Women who have yet to find their place in the world and can be vulnerable to the men who prey on them.

Forget the fact he is a hot, famous movie star. Think about how you’d feel if a man within your social circle was only dating women in their early 20s or if your friend was dating an older guy who exclusively dated women in their early 20s.

You wouldn’t think it was quirky or random. Chances are you’d be inclined to think the guy was a creep and you’d probably advise your friend to ghost him.

Men who only want to date younger women are often seeking power and control. They don’t want to date an equal partner and veer away from dating someone of similar age or status.

It might be fun in your 20s to date a movie star – even an ageing movie star but those red flags are flapping wildly in the breeze.
