Katy Perry’s chilling nickname for ex Russell Brand revealed amid shock allegations
Katy Perry reportedly gave her ex-husband Russell Brand this unflattering nickname after their 2012 divorce, but he reportedly loved it.
Katy Perry’s chilling nickname for ex-husband Russell Brand has been revealed by British journalist Piers Morgan.
In an opinion piece published in The Sun amid shock rape and sexual assault allegations made against Brand, the columnist recalled running into Perry at a Vanity Fair party in the US in 2013, during which he tried to lock her in for an interview.
Brand has vehemently denied all allegations.
The run-in in Washington D.C. was one year after the couple had ended their marriage after just 14 months, so Perry told Morgan she wasn’t ready for a sit-down just yet as she didn’t want to discuss the break-up.
“Because you’ll get the truth out of me, and I’m just not ready to tell you the truth,” Morgan recalled her saying.
“In fact, I’m not sure I’m ready to admit the truth to myself.”
Perry then reportedly said she finds British people charming, except for Brand.
“You Brits are all the same, so damn confident … Trouble is, I find that irresistible. I love Brits … Well, not all of them – not Rasputin, obviously,” she is said to have told Morgan, seemingly referring to her comedian ex.
Grigori Rasputin was mystic figure in Russia in the early 1900s who was known for his seducing women. The word ‘Rasputin’ is Russian for “debauched one”.
Some time after his conversation with Perry, Morgan interviewed Brand and told him of his ex-wife’s comments and nickname for him, which reportedly “thrilled” the comedian.
According to Morgan, Brand was flattered by the moniker as he thought Rasputin was a “pretty powerful bloke”.
“He could manipulate folk with his eyes,” Brand supposedly told Morgan. “I like Rasputin … he was all right, wasn’t he … a mad monk with magical, mystical powers, having it off with everyone, drinking and getting into fights.”
Morgan’s column was written days after four women came forward with allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse against Brand, alleged to have taken place between 2006 and 2013.
He has vigorously denied the “very serious, criminal allegations” and said his relationships have all been consensual.
