Kanye West says he wants to get back with Kim Kardashian in first post-divorce interview
Kanye West has sat down for his first interview since his divorce with Kim Kardashian, and he dropped several curveballs.
Kanye West has spoken about his divorce from Kim Kardashian for the first time, and in true Yeezy fashion, he’s dropped quite a few bombs.
The 44-year-old rapper, who recently officially changed his name to Ye, sat down for an interview on the Drink Champs podcast, where he made a series of contradicting revelations about his ex-wife.
Kardashian filed for divorce from West, with whom she shares four children, in February, with multiple reports over the last few months regarding their billion-dollar split and asset division.
However, West said he had “never even seen” any divorce papers, while also admitting he wanted to rekindle his relationship with his wife of seven years.
Here are a few of the curveballs West dropped during the chat:
Fury over Kim’s SNL monologue
Kardashian, 41, featured on Saturday Night Live! last month, where she delivered a searing monologue about her ex-husband.
She said he was a “genius” and the “richest black man in America”, adding: “So when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: His personality.”
West wasn’t having a bar of this, accusing the SNL producers of forcing Kardashian to roast him while also revealing they weren’t yet divorced.
“You know, SNL making my wife say ‘I divorced him’ on TV cause they just wanted to get that bar off,” he said. “And I ain’t never even seen the papers. We not even divorced … ‘cause that ain’t no joke to me.”
Kanye wants to get back with Kim
West went on to say he wants to get back with his wife, who has recently been spotted on dates with SNL comedian, Pete Davidson.
“My kids want their parents to stay together. I want us to be together,” he said.
“But if you look at the media, that’s not what they promoting. That’s not what they want. They want it to be a new wedding, a new episode, a new TV show.”
Kim’s publicist ‘in her ear’
West also suggested Kardashian had a team of people encouraging her to end her marriage, before calling out her publicist directly.
“Then they have people all around and in my wife’s ear, you know, this publicist that’s next to her — I don’t f**k with her,” he said.
“That’s my family E! That’s my family Hulu.”
West is referring to the E! network, which made Keeping Up With The Kardashians for 20 seasons, as well as Hulu, which is producing a new Kardashian series.
Kardashian revealed what led to their divorce during the KUWTK finale, which aired in June, saying West gave her all the “extravagant” things but she was now yearning for “smaller experiences”.
“I want someone that … We have the same shows in common. I want someone that wants to work out with me,” Kim told her mother, Kris Jenner.
“Every single day, Khloe (Kardashian) and Tristan (Thompson) and I would work out at 6am, and I was third wheeling it for a good eight months in quarantine, and I was so envious of that.
“It’s the little things is what I don’t have. I have all the big things.
“I have the extravagant, everything you could possibly imagine. And no one will ever do it like that, and I know that, and I’m grateful for these experiences, but I think I’m ready for the smaller experiences that I think will mean a lot.
“I’m waking up at 40 and just realising I want total happiness. Obviously complete bliss is not a full reality, but if I can have that majority of the time, that’s all I want.”
