Johnny Depp’s first wife defends him over domestic violence allegations

JOHNNY Depp was “driven insane” by suspicions Amber Heard and her A-list girlfriend were “making a fool of him”, sources say.

JOHNNY Depp’s ex-wife has hit out at Amber Heard for filing for divorce and claiming the actor beat her.

Lori Anne Allison, who was married to Depp between 1983 and 1985, told friends she didn’t believe Heard’s allegation that Depp bashed her.

Heard filed for divorce last week and posted a snap of her bruised face to Instagram, saying Depp threw an iPhone at her.

TMZ reports make-up artist Allison said Depp was not capable of hurting anyone and he didn’t even scream.

She described him as “a soft person” who cared for animals.

A judge on Friday ordered Depp to stay away from his estranged wife, Heard, after she accused the Pirates of the Caribbean star of repeatedly hitting her during a recent fight.

TMZ reports actor Mickey Rourke also said Depp didn’t seem like a very violent man.

“He’s a very low key guy and a gentleman, not a violent guy,” he said.

“I think he’s a really good guy.”

The pair married 15 months ago and Heard filed for divorce just three days after Depp’s mother died.

A retraining order against Depp was issued on the same day as the 52-year-old actor’s latest film, Alice Through the Looking Glass, opened in theatres.

Heard and Depp met when filming The Rum Diary in 2011 and AP reports Depp must not contact the blonde beauty before their June 17 hearing.

Los Angeles Police went to the pair’s home just two days before Heard filed for divorce, following a domestic violence call.

It was determined on arrival no crime occurred and the person who made the call did not press charges.

AP reports these allegations could stain Depp’s reputation and Hollywood publicist Michael Levine said he was very well-liked by women.

“It’s very hard (to overcome), even if the woman recants,” Mr Levine said.

In documents filed to the court, Heard also alleged Depp pulled her hair, screamed at her repeatedly and violently grabbed her face.

She also claimed Depp was struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.

Mr Levine predicted Depp would attempt to do some damage control by going to rehab.

“That’s what most people do,” he said.

“That’s the general defence line.

“If he just tried to ignore it and pretend it didn’t happen, I think he’s going to pay a price in both the short and long term.”

Neither Depp or his lawyer have addressed domestic violence allegations and the actor has been going about business as usual.

AP reports he played a gig in Portugal over the weekend with his band, Hollywood Vampires, and was calm and collected and puffing on a cigar while strumming his guitar.

The Sun reported the famous couple’s marriage was on the rocks because of Heard’s close relationship with model and actress Cara Delevingne, and Depp thought they were “making a fool of him”.

It is rumoured Depp had doubts about whether his bisexual wife would remain loyal.

A source told The Sun Amber’s friendship with Cara, which grew closer and closer over time, “brought about the beginning of the end for her marriage to Johnny”.

The source said Heard and Delevingne did not hide their flirtations and Heard always made her bisexual tendencies quite obvious.

The Sun reports fights between Depp and Heard over Delevingne started at the end of 2014 when the couple rented a North London home while Depp filmed Alice Through the Looking Glass.

The source told The Sun Heard and Delevingne were disrespectful towards Depp when he said he needed sleep and they constantly partied.

“It didn’t help that Johnny couldn’t stand Cara,” the source said.

“He found her obnoxious and disrespectful and would ask his staff to warn him when she was going to be around.

“He didn’t like quite a few of Amber’s friends, but he took a particular dislike to Cara.

“It was the friendship with her that really started to drive him insane.”

A source close to Depp told The Sun the actor was not abusive and had to defend himself against his “irrational” wife.

“Amber painted herself as the beaten-down wife who did nothing wrong, but there is definitely another side to the story of their marriage,” the source said.

“They have had a series of blazing rows, but Amber has a furious temper herself and she knew how to wind Johnny up and push him to the end of his tether.

“She would play on the age gap between them, calling him fat, uncool and old.

“He said that he never hit her, that she had a vicious temper and that he has only acted in self-defence.”
