Joe Jonas files for divorce from Sophie Turner

It’s over. Just days after rumours surfaced of their shock split, the singer has reportedly filed for divorce from Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.

Joe Jonas has officially filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, just days after reports first surfaced that they were ending their marriage.

According to TMZ, the singer filed court documents in Miami on Tuesday and hired powerhouse celebrity lawyer Tom Sasser, who also handled Tiger Woods’ divorce.

Copies of the petition were reportedly seen by the US Today show, which showed Jonas stating that the marriage is “irretrievably broken”.

It comes after news first broke over the weekend that the Jonas Brothers musician had contacted two LA divorce lawyers and was on the cusp of filing the paperwork.

TMZ reports that Jonas is requesting joint custody of their two daughters, a three-year-old and a one-year-old, and that the couple have a prenuptial contract.

The publication also claims that a source cited their “very different lifestyles” as a factor in the split.

“She likes to party, he likes to stay at home,” the insider said.

Turner, 27, and Jonas, 34, began dating in 2016, and became engaged the following year.

They had two weddings in 2019 - first eloping in Las Vegas and then hosting a star-studded ceremony in France just weeks later.

The pair welcomed their first daughter, Willa, in July 2020.

Their second child, whose name they haven’t publicly revealed, was born in July 2022.

While the stars have shared pictures together on social media over their years, they have largely kept details of their relationship and their children out of the spotlight.

In 2022, Jonas explained that he just wanted “something for myself” in an interview with Mr Porter.

“When we started dating, I realized that I didn’t have a ton of stuff that was just for me,” he said.

“And in the end, it makes me a better person to have something for myself.”

However, the DNCE frontman did pen a “love letter” ballad to his wife, called Hesitate, which he performed during a Jonas Brothers concert as recently as this weekend.

In the band’s 2020 Happiness Continues concert film, he explained: “It’s like my vows before I wrote my vows. It’s my promise to Sophie.”

The song includes emotional lyrics including “I promise we’ll figure this out” and “I thank the oceans for giving me you,” in a reference to Turner’s English heritage.

Meanwhile, in a rare insight into their relationship in 2019, Turner opened up about being in love with the singer to the Sunday Times.

“When someone tells you they love you every day … it makes you love yourself a bit more,” she said. “A lot of [my happiness now] is to do with being with a person I’ve fallen in love with, who loves me more than he loves himself, and who wants to see me find my own happiness.”
