Jason Momoa clarifies misconstrued comment about him being ‘homeless’
Aquaman star Jason Momoa cleared the air after his comments were misconstrued amid his divorce from actress Lisa Bonet.
Jason Momoa cleared the air about being “homeless” following his divorce from Lisa Bonet.
“I’m just houseless. I’m not homeless,” the Aquaman star jokingly told People in a new interview.
“I have a nice trailer,” he added. “Everyone’s like, ‘Jason Momoa’s homeless.’ I’m like, ‘Relax. I got a f***ing sleeping bag.’”
Momoa, who caught attention last week for sharing his new-found transient lifestyle, explained that he is actually “excited” to buy a house “one day.”
Momoa further joked that people will be dumbfounded when he eventually pulls the trigger on a home purchase.
Speaking with the outlet, he theorised that people would say, “‘Jason Momoa bought a home. Holy sh*t. He’s got a pillow now.’”
Momoa’s misconstrued comment came from an interview the Game of Thrones star did with Entertainment Tonight last week in which he explained how his work life led to a nomadic way of living.
“I don’t even have a home right now,” he said to the outlet. “I live on the road.”
Further explaining, the actor and father of two — of whom he shares with Bonet — said that he has been travelling across the US while filming an upcoming docuseries On the Roam.
“I’m always in these weird places,” Momoa said, adding that fans have been shocked to see him pop up in their small towns. “It happens all the time. They’re like, ‘What the hell are you doing in our hometown?’
“I love the idea of just being with everyday people and doing my craft, which is filming, and then showing them. And so, I think through doing that for so long, I got to be curious about it.”
Momoa’s travelling doesn’t end with the docuseries — which releases on Max on January 18 — as the actor is jetting off to New Zealand to film Minecraft.
Last week, the Fast X star, 44, and Bonet, 56, settled their divorce just days after the Cosby Show star filed.
Per the court documents, Bonet requested joint physical and legal custody of Lola, 16, and Nakoa-Wolf, 15.
Both Momoa and Bonet were separated for two years prior to filing.
“We share our Family news that we are parting ways in marriage,” they announced in a joint statement posted to Instagram at the time.
“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
Momoa has most recently been romantically linked to Eiza González. The two were spotted in July 2022 riding a motorcycle together in Malibu, California.
