‘I’m single and confident’: Cassandra Thorburn celebrates her divorce from Karl Stefanovic

HER divorce from Karl Stefanovic was finalised on Tuesday. And the very next day, Cassandra Thorburn stepped out to celebrate.

JUST 24 hours after finalising her high profile divorce from Karl Stefanovic, Cassandra Thorburn stepped out on Wednesday to celebrate in style.

Looking relaxed and carefree, the 44-year-old mum-of-three attended the Women in Future Awards — the event marking her return to the public eye after months of shying away from media attention.

“I felt really good to be stepping out to support other women at The Australian Women’s Weekly’s Women of the Future Awards and it also felt fitting because I am looking towards my future as a single, confident, mother of three,” she told Fairfax Media at the luncheon.

“It was a celebratory day for me. I am excited to start a new chapter.”

Looking tanned and toned in a flirty pink Scanlan Theodore frock, Thorburn posed proudly for photographers as she arrived at the event. She kept her makeup natural and accessorised with tan heels, a gold clutch and simple silver jewellery.

“I was invited as me and I wasn’t alone. I brought my girlfriend Cara along with me. It felt like a milestone,” she told Fairfax Media of attending the event as herself — and not as Mrs Stefanovic.

Soon after their split hit the headlines a year ago, the 43-year-old Today host didn’t wait long before going public with new girlfriend Jasmine Yarbrough. While he was regularly snapped wining, dining and jetsetting around the world with the 33-year-old designer, Thorburn laid low and focused on moving forward with the three kids. Part of this involved shifting out of the old family home and relocating to a million dollar mansion — which was completed in the final months of her 21-year marriage.

Despite media reports earlier this year that the pair’s split was done and dusted with a settlement reached in May, Thorburn confirmed it was only finalised on Tuesday.

“The divorce has been finalised but a settlement has yet to be reached and it all happened on Tuesday and not months ago like some tabloids have suggested. Those claims are untrue,” she said.
