Claims Joe Jonas ‘less than supportive’ as Sophie Turner divorce gets bitter

It’s been reported that Sophie Turner’s partying ways contributed to the split from Joe Jonas – but that may not be the whole story.

The impending divorce of singer Joe Jonas and actor Sophie Turner is getting increasingly acrimonious with shade now being thrown at the Jonas brother.

It follows days of commentary suggesting a factor in the break up was the Game of Thrones star’s alleged desire to party while Jonas was content to sit at home with the kids.

But those close to Turner, 27, have now hit back saying it was Turner who wanted to remain at home but attended events with Jonas despite feeling “uncomfortable”.

On Wednesday morning, US time, the pair co-ordinated identical posts on Instagram to address the split it in a “statement from the two of us”.

“After four wonderful years of marriage we gave mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” it stated.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy and our children.”

Jonas, 34, filed paperwork to end the marriage at a court in Miami-Dade County Court in Florida on Tuesday.

According to the Associated Press, the filing said “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken”.

After the split was announced, entertainment website TMZ reported a source who said Jonas and Turner had “different lifestyles”, with Jonas preferring to “stay at home” while Turner enjoyed going out.

A source told the Daily Mail that Turner felt her professional and personal life had stalled since her marriage to Jonas, who she began dating when she was 19.

“She became famous at a very young age, then married and had kids … and never really had the teenage years of sleeping around and just having carefree fun with friends.

“Since the kids came along, she’s feeling trapped.”

Pictures emerged of Turner, who played Sansa Stark in GOT, partying in a pub in the central England city of Birmingham.

However, that one highlighted night out was reportedly a work event – the wrap party of a UK TV series she was filming called Joan.

Jonas ‘less than supportive’

TMZ has now published comments from people repeatedly around Joe Jonas when the pair’s second child was born last July.

It’s been claimed Jonas was “less than supportive”.

“After their youngest child was born … Sophie didn’t want to leave their home … she didn’t want to be photographed or go to events,” stated TMZ.

“Nevertheless, she attended several events with Joe, but at one specific event, several people who were there said Sophie made it clear she was uncomfortable and didn’t want to be there.”

Later, Turner was absent from an event Jonas attended. He was said to have “complained” that his wife was “MIA” and that “she needed to get out more”.

“It was clear to the people who were there and heard Joe … there was a strain in the relationship.”

A few months later, however, and it was Jonas reportedly complaining about Turner being out too much.

Jonas came to the UK during the northern summer with their two children while Turner was working.

But it was seemingly not enough to save the relationship. He then returned to the US with the kids.

It’s claimed that Jonas “saw/heard” something on a Ring cam that was the “last straw” in the couple’s relationship.

A Ring is a popular small camera that allows users to monitor areas – like front doors – from their phone.

“Joe had access to a Ring cam that he said captured Sophie saying and/or doing something that made him realise the marriage was over,” it said.

The New York Post’s Page Six reported the divorce decision was a “last resort for Joe” following months of feeling “unhappy”.

“He never wanted to break up his family, but he had to take what he felt was the best course of action for his girls,” an insider said.

“An unhappy home isn’t a home, and the truth is that he and Sophie were going through it this year.

“It just kept building, and Joe finally reached a point where he felt that he had exhausted all options to salvage the marriage.”
