Britney Spears spotted amid divorce from husband Sam Asghari

Britney Spears has been spotted just hours after she was hit with a divorce filing, as her ex-husband Sam Asghari threatens to go public with damning claims.

Britney Spears has been spotted just hours after being hit with a divorce filing from her husband of one year, Sam Ashgari.

It first emerged earlier on Thursday that the pair, who had been dating since 2016, split following a “nuclear argument” in regards to unfounded claims Spears had cheated on Ashgari.

The US pop star has since been photographed out and about without her wedding ring while at the wheel of her white Mercedes.

According to TMZ, Spears, 41, and Ashgari, 29, had a fight a week ago, and had since decided to part ways. However, reports have been swirling for months that the pair were living apart.

Meanwhile, Page Six claims Asghari is threatening to go public with “embarrassing information” about Spears, that is, if he doesn’t get what he wants out of the divorce.

“[Asghari is] attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid,” a source told the publication. “So that’s what Sam is focused on.”

The publication further reports Spears has already hired powerhouse lawyer Laura Wasser, who has defended Kim Kardashian, Johnny Depp and Kevin Costner, among others.

Spears previously hired Wasser in 2008 when she was going through a custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their two sons, Sean Preston, now 17, and Jayden, now 16.

Spears and Asghari’s divorce comes just over a year after their celebrity wedding at the Toxic singer’s California home, which was held in June.

With regards to rumours of cheating, a source told TMZ Asghari believed his wife had been unfaithful.

“Sam confronted Britney over rumours she stepped out on him,” a source told the outlet.

“We do not know if the rumour has any basis in fact, but we’re told Sam believed it and the two had a huge fight and swiftly moved out.”

The pair met in 2016 when Asghari starred in Spears’ music video for Slumber Party. They got engaged in September 2021.

Neither party has commented on news of the divorce.

Spears took to Instagram as if nothing had happened with an unrelated post about her intention to buy a horse.

Sharing a photo of herself on horseback on the beach, the singer pondered what name she should give her new pet, turning comments ‘off’ on the post:

It’s been a turbulent year in Spears’ private life, after her two sons moved to Hawaii with Federline and his wife, Victoria Prince.

Spears reportedly hasn’t seen her children in over a year.

While most updates from the former teen idol in recent years have come via her Instagram page, Spears is gearing up to release her tell-all memoir, The Woman in Me, on October 24.

It’s believed she will sit down for an interview with Oprah Winfrey to promote the book.
