Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose confirm engagement, reveal they met a decade ago

Billy Ray Cyrus has confirmed his engagement to a young Australian singer, who has revealed the couple met on-set of Hannah Montana.

Billy Ray Cyrus has confirmed his engagement to a younger Australian singer with a series of photos.

The 61-year-old US singer uploaded several loved-up selfies on Instagram with Sydney-born songstress Firerose, who is thought to be 28, where she’s seen flashing her large engagement ring.

It comes six months after Billy Ray’s wife of almost 30 years, Tish Cyrus, filed for divorce from the Achy Breaky Heart singer, claiming in the filing they had lived apart for two years.

Billy Ray, who is the father of 29-year-old pop star Miley Cyrus, was romantically linked to Firerose for the first time in August, with engagement rumours emerging in September.

Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose appear to have confirmed their engagement.

The couple were first linked in August.

Reports suggested they met after teaming up on their 2021 song, New Day, however, a newly-resurfaced interview with Billy Ray and Firerose on US talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan revealed the duo met much earlier.

“We actually met 10 years ago on the set of Hannah Montana … And Billy Ray’s been a phenomenal supporter of my music ever since,” Firerose told Ryan Seacrest in August 2021.

The Disney Channel series first aired in 2006 and starred Miley, now 29, as the lead character Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana, bolstering the Tennessee native to global superstardom.

The show aired its final episode in January 2011, meaning Firerose was likely a teenager when she was on-set.

It comes after a report in September claimed Miley and Billy Ray, who played a father/daughter duo on Hannah Montana, have fallen out in the wake of her parents’ divorce in April.

They had recently unfollowed each other on Instagram in a very public sign of their feud, The Sun reported.

“Miley is all about peace but she didn’t agree with some things that her father has done. It has really escalated and they are not on good terms,” a source told the publication.

“There were words exchanged over what ­happened towards the end of Billy and Tish’s marriage, and since then, but they clearly see things very differently.

“Neither of them is particularly eager to make amends right now without an apology.

“The rest of the family are hoping it will blow over soon and they will be able to make up, but Billy and Miley are both upset.”

Meanwhile, Billy Ray was noticeably absent from the family’s Christmas celebrations last year, with fans commenting on Miley’s Instagram post at the time asking where her father was.
