Dominic Fike blasted for comments about Amber Heard amid defamation trial

Singer and Euphoria star Dominic Fike has incited fierce backlash after making a controversial remark about Amber Heard on stage this week.

Euphoria actor and musician Dominic Fike has been branded a “weirdo” by fans after trivialising the alleged abuse described during the ongoing Amber Heard, Johnny Depp defamation trial.

Fike, 26, made mention of the trial during a performance at Northwestern University, Chicago, this week, telling the young crowd he’s fantasised about Heard “beating him up”.

“I’m gonna be real with y’all. I actually think Amber Heard is hot … But I’ve been having these visions of her [where] she’s beating me up. I think it’s hot,” he says in a video shared on Twitter by Pop Crave, which was taken by a student at the event.

Twitter users flocked to blast the star over the strange move, with one concertgoer describing the remark as “disgusting no matter how you view the trial and a weird thing to say about a potential abuser/victim”.

Fike plays Elliot in hit Netflix teen drama Euphoria, joining the popular series in the recent third series.

The musician-turned-actor has been romantically linked to his co-star, model and trans activist Hunter Schafer.

The snippet of his show comes a day before closing arguments are due to be heard in the defamation case Johnny Depp launched against Amber Heard, with a likely verdict next week following Monday’s Memorial Day holiday in the US.

Heard was called as the final witness on Thursday, where she faced Depp’s fierce lawyer Camille Vasquez, who claimed she has been “lying” about their relationship, and that Depp was the real victim of violence.

The Aquaman star, who has been at the centre of a social media pile-on by Depp’s passionate fans, cried as she told the court she had been left “humiliated” and targeted with threats of violence.

Model Kate Moss also took the stand this week, flatly denying Johnny Depp pushed her down a flight of stairs – a rumour Heard had divulged the week earlier.

Heard is being sued by Depp for $US50 million ($A70m) for implying he abused her in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. Although she did not name him, he claims her allegations are false and cost him lucrative movie roles.

Heard has countersued, asking for $US100 million ($A134m) and claims she suffered “rampant physical violence and abuse” at his hands but was herself defamed when claims were made that she had manufactured the allegations.
