Kennerley and her husband were at Bonville Golf Resort last weekend, before she was due to speak to a luncheon of 1000 guests this week when he lost his footing and fell backwards through a hedge and onto lawn.

Despite the low-rise of the outdoor deck, staff said the retired business man fell awkwardly.

He was attended to by local paramedics, rushed to Coffs Harbour hospital, then flown to Sydney’s RNSH for emergency surgery.

He was placed in an induced coma, with his TV presenter wife by his bedside.
