Chris Hemsworth’s insane Thor diet revealed

It’s not easy becoming a Marvel superhero – just ask the chef behind Chris Hemsworth’s incredibly ripped God of Thunder physique.

Chris Hemsworth’s personal chef has lifted the lid on exactly what the Aussie actor eats when he’s bulking up to play Thor.

Dan Churchill – who is the also chef behind Hemsworth’s fitness app, Centr – told the Daily Mail that he consumes a whopping 4500 calories per day when he’s preparing for his most action-packed film roles.

The calories are usually divided into 10 separate meals, served throughout the day.

“It takes a lot of discipline to adhere to Chris’s schedule – he often has to sacrifice taste and flavour to get the job done,” Churchill told the publication.

The chef has worked closely with Hemsworth for three years, and says his favourite meals include steak, rice-based dishes, broccoli, chicken and banana protein shakes.

“Chris is an unbelievable ambassador to Australia, and I’m so blessed to work with him,” Churchill said.

“Chris is truly a top bloke with a heart of gold. He leads by example, he’s just a really cool person and he’s very relatable.”

It’s not the first time details of Hemsworth’s gruelling Thor regimen have been released.

In 2021, his trainer Luke Zocchi and longtime stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton shared some insight into the intense effort the former Home and Away star puts in.

“Chris takes it very, very seriously, and the shape he gets into, it’s phenomenal,” Hanton, who has been the actor’s stunt double in 13 movies, told Page Six.

“There’s a real process that goes into achieving these goals. But I think over the last 10 years, we’ve managed to come up with ways to do that.”

And according to Zocchi, who has been friends with Hemsworth since they were eight, it all comes down to “consistency, hard work and also eating the right foods”.

Aside from his calorie intake, consistent training is a key part to looking like the God of Thunder.

“It’s just heavy weightlifting, training at least once a day, sometimes twice a day,” Zocchi said. “People are surprised you don’t normally train over, like, an hour in a session.

“It’s normally an intense, heavy workout. But we’re normally done within an hour because we’ve just pushed him that hard over that hour.

“But it’s an intense hour. It’s not like we’re standing around and taking photos for Instagram.”

Along with weight training, Hemsworth mixes up his routine and turns to boxing, HIIT training and other forms of fitness.

“We try and take the best parts of many different styles,” Hanton said. “I think the main thing is trying to find that happy medium, that balance to give you, you know, the best chance possible to achieve what we need to achieve on each film.”
