Rebel Wilson’s an outfit repeater but for a very good reason

Actor Rebel Wilson is getting praise online for re-wearing the same dress to the Oscars.

In 2020 Rebel walked the red carpet wearing a beautiful gold gown; fast-forward to 2023, she pulled the same dress out of her closet and wore it for the Oscars again.

The iconic gold dress is by designer Jason Wu, and Rebel took to Instagram to post a photo of her in her dress with her partner Ramona and wrote: “Oscars 2023. Sustainably re-wearing my dress from the Oscars 2020.”

Fans were quick to applaud her efforts.

One commented, “Yes to re-wearing!”

Another commented: “I wish more celebrities would do the same!”

Another added: “Beautiful, wish more people would re-wear outfits, gowns, etc.! Makes perfect sense.”

Rebel’s re-wear comes as we are learning more and more about the damages of fast fashion. According to environmental group Clean Up Australia, the fashion industry is one of the highest polluting industries.

It is responsible for an estimated 10 per cent of global CO2 emissions and Australians are the world’s second largest consumers of textiles, basically it has never been a more important time to go shopping within your own wardrobe.

Rebel’s dress story also doesn’t just end there! When Rebel first rocked the golden dress, she was also heavier.

She has since embraced a year of health and has been open and transparent about how she has lost over 20 kilos.

Rebel has attributed her dramatic weight loss to a very simple exercise.

On an episode of “Time to Walk” by Apple Fitness+, Rebel got very candid and explained that after a chat with a medical professional she found the ingredient she needed to shed the kilos.

“The doctor said to me, ‘Rebel, the best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is just simply walking,” she said.

“’Doesn’t have to be high-intensity, doesn’t have to be uphill, just moderate walking an hour a day. And if you can do that for your body type, it’s, like, the best way to lose unwanted body fat,” she explained.

Rebel also revealed that she wasn’t allowed to lose weight for a few years because she was contracted by certain movies to maintain a certain image and look.

She famously shot to stardom by playing the character ‘Fat Amy’ in the franchise Pitch Perfect.

Rebel explained the situation on the Call Her Daddy podcast, “You can’t lose, I think it’s not more than 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms), or gain more than 10 pounds.

“You have to kind of stay at the weight. It’s in your contract,” she explained.

On Rebel’s dress post some fans made a special point to remark that while Rebel’s body has changed since 2020, she looked equally beautiful both times she wore the gold dress.

Rebel’s fashion look wasn’t just beautiful but it actually managed to start some beautiful conversations on the internet.
