Newly engaged celebrity couple seen kissing in Sydney

A newly engaged celebrity couple have been seen kissing in Sydney in one of the city’s trendy suburbs.

Matty Healy has been seen packing on the PDA with his model fiance Gabriella Leigh Bechtel.

The 35-year-old rocker and lead singer of The 1975 was seen kissing his fiance in Sydney’s trendy Surry Hills.

The couple are in Australia because Gabriella, who goes by Gabbriette, is here to film the remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer.

The hipster pair looked very trendy on their date night. Gabbriette kept it casual in a black slip dress and boots.

After nine months of dating, the couple got engaged in June, with the model sharing the happy news on Instagram.

She posted a photo of her black diamond engagement ring and wrote, “Marrying the 1975 is very brat”.

This refers to pop singer Charli XCX’s super successful album Brat, which became the word of the summer.

Charli’s also engaged to Healy’s bandmate Georgie Daniel, and the foursome often hang out together.

Healy’s engagement has been headline-making because he dated Taylor Swift right before she dated Travis Kelce.

Swift and Healy have known each other for years, but in 2023, he suddenly appeared at her shows, and they were seen holding hands and going into the recording studio together.

Their relationship abruptly ended, and then Swift released her record-breaking The Tortured Poets Society album.

The album’s lyrics referenced a short-lived romance that broke her heart.

The track The Smallest Man That Ever Lived has become a fan favourite and plenty of fans have posted theories online about why they think Healy was the inspiration.

There’s a particular line where she sings about her love interest wearing a “Jehovah witness suit,” a suit style Healy is a known fan of.

Despite the crazy scrutiny around their short-lived romance, Healy moved on and proposed to the 27-year-old model.

The 35-year-old went on the Doomscroll podcast and discussed how he became more famous after being seen with Swift.

“Last year I became a way more well-known public figure for loads of different reasons. The only reason that I was interested in is kind of like, what I was doing,” he said.

Healy went on to explain that he didn’t have any interest in discussing his past romantic relationships when making an album.

“Honestly, I would kind of just be lying if I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me or my casual romantic liaisons or whatever it may be that I’ve kind of become known for just because I was famous,” he said.
