Kyle Sandilands backs Grant Denyer after photos of him with another woman sparked backlash

Kyle Sandilands has thrown his support behind Grant Denyer over controversial photos of him with his hand on a 22-year-old woman’s thigh.

Kyle Sandilands has defended photos of Grant Denyer with his hand on another woman’s leg, saying, “He’s like that, he’s a sweetie.”

The 50-year-old radio host addressed the controversial New Idea story last week which falsely suggested Denyer, 44, was having an affair with his Dancing With The Stars partner, 22-year-old Lily Cornish.

According to Denyer and his wife of 10 years Chezzi, it was merely a “she’ll be right pat on the leg” to comfort Lily after she’d shared some personal news.

Sandilands said he believed the veteran TV personality that the photos were “taken out of context”.

“It’s New Idea. Everyone knows everything inside it is invented rubbish,” Sandilands said on Wednesday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show.

“(Grant) is like that, he’s a sweetie.

“He is a nice guy. I give him a bit of a hard time (but he’s) super nice. Denyer and his wife Chezzi, that’s a real relationship. That’s a real love story.

“(It’s) bulls**t. Not true. I didn’t even read the story, I knew it was that much bulls**t.”

Last week, both Grant and Chezzi hit out at New Idea for the insinuation that something untoward happened after the magazine wrote of “Chezzi’s heartbreak”.

Responding to the scandalous front cover, Chezzi said that Lily is “like an adopted daughter” to them.

At the time, Denyer told 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew with Hughesy, Ed & Erin that he felt as though he’d “embarrassed (his) family” despite doing nothing wrong.

The photos showed Grant and Lily walking along together in workout gear before sitting down and embracing in a moment captured by cameras.

Grant explained on 2Day FM that the photos were taken shortly after they’d been in a gruelling practice session together, adding that he was giving his partner some “fatherly advice” over a personal issue she’d divulged to him.

“We’d just been on the phone to Chezzi, we’d been FaceTiming … It had been a bit of a tough day … and Lil had a bit going on in her personal life.

“It’s not up to me to divulge what it is but I was just giving her a bit of a pep talk and fatherly advice,” he added.

“I just gave her a tap on the leg and she sort of leaned in for a bit of a hug after a chat and that’s the photo on the (New Idea) front page.”

Denyer is currently filming the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars: All Stars for Channel 7 alongside Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac, McLeod’s Daughters star Bridie Carter, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Angie Kent.
