Jessica Rowe has spoken out about being trolled over bikini photos of her enjoying a day at the beach.

Rowe, 52, decided to share some of the cruel comments about her bikini body and admitted that the response “hurt her feelings”.

The former Network 10 star explained that she was on a holiday with her family, including her husband Peter Overton and her two teenage daughters, when the paparazzi took some snaps of her.

She said that she didn’t think the photos taken were super flattering, but she just planned to brush it off.

She was also enjoying her holiday so much that she even posted her own bikni snap on Instagram.

Things changed, though, when her daughter Allegra, 16, read the comments surrounding the photos of her and told her that some of the comments were “really awful”.

Rowe immediately told her daughter to stop reading them. “Don’t engage and don’t bother,” she advised.

However, Rowe admitted that she couldn’t follow her own advice and scrolled through the comment section and decided to address it on her podcast Jessica Rowe’s Big Talk Show.

The podcast episode featured a voice-over reading out some of the most brutal and unkind comments and it really highlighted how cruel people can be on the internet.

“Why do old women cut their hair short it is unattractive and very manly looking,” someone wrote.

“She looks like an 80-year-old dude,” another commented.

One added: “I think when you get to that age, it is best not to display your body publicly.”

Someone else commented: “She has zero sex appeal.”

One wrote: “She could do with a feed.”

“Thin, bony and stringy muscle, not appealing at all,” another shared.

“Far too thin!” Someone added.

After the comments were read, Rowe admitted that she didn’t know if she should “laugh or cry”.

Rowe then shared that she was shocked by how awful people could be.

“It is so awful. It is so cruel, and sure there is the idea that words shouldn’t hurt, but they do,” she revealed.

She also shared that although she’s been in the public eye for decades the comments had still impacted her.

“I don’t understand what is in people that thinks that is okay to do. I’m a grown-up, but that hurts, and that isn’t okay to give unsolicited commentary on someone’s body,” she pointed out.

Rowe also shared that she was “comfortable in my skin” and “I love who I am,” but added that didn’t mean the comments weren’t still “hurtful”.

The former network presenter also shared the clip from the podcast on her Instagram and wrote a lengthy caption

“In my podcast this week I talk about trolling and why it still hurts. I’ve been targeted over my body shape since I was a young woman and it’s not okay to give unsolicited, cruel opinions about anyone’s body. I’m over it.” she wrote.
