Jess Rowe stuns in $299 Camilla bikini at 52

Journalist and author Jessica Rowe has shared a photo to Instagram wearing a bikini from Camilla with Love at the age of 52.

Former Studio 10 host and self-proclaimed “crap housewife” Jessica Rowe has shared a rare bikini snap to social media.

The 52-year-old posed on the sand beside a cabana while wearing a black bikini with a bold flower print over it.

The swimsuit, from Camilla with Love, originally had a $299 price tag attached to it but it is currently on sale for $179.

She completed the look with a bucket hat and sunglasses.

“Big, blue sky. Happy times,” she captioned the image.

Hundreds of people rushed to comment on the photo, praising Rowe for the photograph.

Channel 9 presenter Belinda Russell commented on the photograph: “Beautiful! Happy days!”

“Bloody look at you woman. Enjoy the sunshine,” another television presenter said.

One social media user said: “Absolutely rocking it.”

It comes after Rowe claimed last month she wasn’t allowed to open Channel 10 news during her lengthy co-anchor stint because she was a woman.

Rowe, who began co-hosting Sydney’s 5pm bulletin alongside veteran Ron Wilson in 1996, made the claim on a special International Women’s Day edition of her podcast The Jess Rowe Big Talk Show.

Rowe said Wilson, now 68, was given the honour of reading the opening story every day for six years until she finally mustered up the courage to call it out.

“When I first began, I needed to earn my stripes. But come on, six years into the role,” she said.

“I wasn’t going to make a fuss, I wasn’t going to make a noise, but now was the time to stand up.”

The mother-of-two, who is married to fellow news anchor Peter Overton, then approached an unnamed boss and asked why she was constantly being sidelined. She claimed he said to her, “Well lovey, that’s because Ron’s a man and you are a woman.”

Rowe said she consulted the HR department after the encounter, which prompted her boss to allow her to finally helm the lead story the very next day.

“I was like, ‘Yes!’” Rowe said.

The sudden change-up reportedly didn’t go down well with her co-host, however, with Rowe claiming Wilson didn’t speak to her for “around six weeks” afterwards.

“I didn’t care though,” Rowe said. “Get loud. Use your voice and call out discrimination this International Women’s Day.”

News.com.au approached Wilson for comment at the time.

A Ten spokesperson said the industry had come “a long way” since Rowe started at the network.

“Today we’re proud to have our national and state news bulletins anchored, produced and edited by talented women and to have men constructively working and collaborating as allies in our newsrooms,” they said at the time.

“This International Women’s Day, we pay tribute to all the women in media, who have been courageous in speaking out against gender inequality.”
