A former Disney star has announced some huge personal news on social media the pics prove she’s entered a new-look era.

Demi Lovato has announced she’s engaged to songwriter Jordan Lutes and is very clearly in her punk rock era.

Lovato, 31, announced her engagement on Instagram to her boyfriend of just over a year and wrote that she couldn’t “believe” she was going to marry the love of her life.

Meanwhile, Lutes, 32, wrote on his social media that he felt like the “luckiest man alive” after becoming engaged to the pop singer.

So, what did the two wear to announce their upcoming nuptials? Well, whatever was in fashion when everyone was on Tumblr and wanted Paramore’s Hayley William’s signature orange hair.

The two wore matching trench coats, black of course and vinyl, so you’d hope the airconditioning was blasting to avoid sweating.

He had a little chain hanging off his pants, Demi had popped on the black nail polish, and it was giving rock chick or what the Goth kids wore to school in 2010.

It is verging on surprising that they weren’t wearing jelly bracelets with the style the pair are embracing.

Fashion aside, the former Disney star has been relatively public about this relationship. The two often post tributes about each other on Instagram, but she hasn’t said much to the media about their romance.

She did reference the relationship during an in-depth chat on The Howard Stern Show, where she discussed her habit of dating older men when she was younger. Lovato famously dated That ‘70s Show star Wilmer Valderrama when she was 19 and he was 29.

She didn’t mention the actor directly but referenced a relationship she had when she was only a teenager.

“I think that when you’re in those development years, you should absolutely not be with somebody that is older than you by that much. It’s just unhealthy and toxic,” she said.

Lovato said that being with someone her age has made her look back at the power dynamics in a relationship with a significant age gap.

“I’m with a partner that is my age, essentially. I look back on the past and think, ‘That’s gross,” she explained.

Lovato added that being with someone a similar age to her means they are “growing together” and it feels really “healthy.”
