Shiloh Jolie-Pitt shocks with name change request
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter has just turned 18 and has already filed legal paper work to change her name.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Shiloh, celebrated her 18th birthday by filing paperwork to dissociate further from her dad.
TMZ has reported that after Shiloh turned 18 on May 27th, she immediately requested a legal name change and wants to drop the Pitt from her last name.
Pitt and Jolie hyphened their last names and all their six kids went by Jolie-Pitt, but not anymore.
If approved, she will use only her mum’s last name and be known solely as Shiloh Jolie.
Shiloh isn’t the first child to distance herself publicly from her father. Her younger sister Vivienne, 15, also doesn’t seem sold on walking around with her dad’s last name.
In typical daughter of a famous person fashion, Vivienne has been working as a producer on her mum’s new Broadway play, The Outsiders, but on the playbill, she was credited as just Vivienne Jolie.
Similarly, the couple’s daughter Zahara, 19, went viral after a video circulated showing her calling herself Zahara Jolie when pledging to a sorority at college.
It isn’t just that Pitt’s daughters are ditching his last name. His eldest son, Maddox, has also shown disdain for his dad.
In November 2023, an Instagram story that Maddox, 22, posted on his private account got leaked.
He posted a photo of his dad holding an Oscar and then declared that he is a “terrible” person.
“Happy Father’s Day to this world class a**hole. You time and time again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person,” he wrote.
“You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you are incapable of doing so.”
The dissociation from their famous dad comes after an alleged plane incident where Jolie alleged Pitt had been drinking and became physically violent and verbally abusive in 2016.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. While both are legally single, the couple are still battling out custody arrangements and asset disputes in court in 2024.
Both have remained relatively tight-lipped about what happened, but there’s been endless speculation.
Their relationship was one of the most famous in the world.
The two got together in 2004 after co-starring in the blockbuster Mr. and Mrs. Smith. When they met, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Anniston and the pair separated shortly after.
Despite the intense scrutiny and the tight timeline, Jolie has always maintained that she wasn’t the ‘other woman’.
For years, they were dubbed the “most beautiful couple in the world”. As a couple, they adopted two children together and had four biological children, and it seemed like they had the perfect marriage until it all blew up in 2016.
In 2020, Jolie told Vogue India that she left her marriage for her children.
“I separated for the wellbeing of my family. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds. They are six very brave, very strong young people,” she said.
