My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar has been found dead.

Authorities told TMZ that the musician was discovered dead at his home in US state of Tennessee on Wednesday ahead of Thanksgiving.

The star, 44, had last been seen alive on November 4.

His body was found when Animal Control visited his home to take away two dogs and then discovered his decomposing body.

Police have confirmed that foul play is not suspected, and a medical examiner is currently determining his cause of death.

Bryar joined My Chemical Romance following the release of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004, replacing drummer Matt Pelissier.

He toured extensively with the band and contributed to their most popular album, The Black Parade. He was also featured on MCR’s fourth album, 2010s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

He announced his decision to quit the band in 2010, and later retired entirely from the music industry in 2014 to pursue a career in real estate and animal rescue.

The band cited creative differences because Bryar didn’t like Danger Day’s direction. It was a creative departure from The Black Parade.

“As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours and expect you all to do the same,” a statement from the band read at the time.

He later focused entirely on his passion for animals, and auctioned off numerous memorabilia items from his time in the band to fund his efforts.

In the years after he left the group, Bryar shared on social media that he had experienced suicidal thoughts following his exit.

“It’s been about five years since I was kicked out of MyChem,” he said in a Tweet in 2015. “I became the most depressed, angry, suicidal person ever.”

In a later tweet, Bryar added: “Now, I am on so many pills that I feel a bit better, although, it still bothers me every day. In a recent conversation, I was told I won’t be back.”

During his time with the band, the drummer was infamously injured due to his commitment to their on-stage theatrics.

While filming the video for Famous Last Words he severely burned his leg, which later led to him being hospitalised due to a severe infection.

While My Chemical Romance are scheduled to go on tour next year, Bryar was not part of the group coming back to play.

To date, he was the longest-tenured drummer in band history.
