Gilbert Gottfried’s Twitter hacked hours after news of his sudden death at 67

Fans mourning the sudden death of comedian Gilbert Gottfried today have taken to Twitter to slam the person behind a brazen online act.

Gilbert Gottfried’s Twitter account was allegedly hacked just hours after his family announced the legendary comedian’s tragic death.

The late star’s bio was changed to “hacked by @yeatarchive on IG,” an account that no longer exists on Instagram, followed by several bizarre tweets.

The posts — screenshots of which were snagged by The Daily Mail before they were deleted — included lewd messages and promotion of various OnlyFans and porn accounts, the New York Post reports.

One particularly tasteless tweet read, “I’m dead because of @yeatarchive on IG. F – k that mf.”

Users immediately shared their disgust with the alleged hacking.

“People are idiots,” one person wrote, with another adding, “Whoever hacked Gilbert Gottfried’s account after he died for onlyfans stuff you’re pathetic.”

“Whoever hacked Gilbert Gottfried’s twitter, shame on you. It’s very disrespectful,” tweeted someone else.

Reps for Gottfried have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment.

However, his publicist told Rolling Stone he was unaware of what had happened with the late star’s page, while a rep for Twitter told the outlet they were “looking into this but so far not seeing anything that suggests a hack.”

The page was briefly deleted but has since been restored with the bio: “In memorium [sic].”

The comedian died at the age of 67 from a heart abnormality called ventricular tachycardia due to myotonic dystrophy type II.

According to the Mayo Clinic, ventricular tachycardia is “a heart rhythm problem caused by irregular electrical signals in the lower chambers of the heart.” Myotonic dystrophy is a type of genetic muscular dystrophy that, according to National Institutes of Health, affects “the muscles and other body systems.”

His family, however, kept the details to a minimum — saying in their statement that the “most iconic voice in comedy” had passed “after a long illness.”

“Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children,” the statement read in part. “Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honour. Love, the Gottfried family.”

Gottfried began his career at the age of 15, doing stand up comedy around New York City. By the 1980s, he had appeared on “Late Night with David Letterman” and had a short stint on “Saturday Night Live.”

The comic famously voiced Iago, Jafar’s sidekick in Disney’s Aladdin, and lent his one-of-a-kind pipes to Aflac commercials.

His long list of credits also includes Beverly Hills Cop II, Problem Child, Look Who’s Talking II and The Aristocrats.
