Byron Bay locals are mourning the loss of “legendary” DJ Daniel Webber, who was found dead aged 37 a week after he was reported missing.

The vibrant North Coast performer has been remembered as a pioneer of the local dance scene, with friends saying he was “loved by everyone”, with the ability to unite people through music.

No cause of death has been revealed.

Daniel’s mother, Sandra Webber, recalled her son’s “gentle nature” in a heartbreaking tribute reported The Daily Telegraph.

“He was loved by everyone. He never judged and took everyone at face value. If there was an upcoming DJ, he made it his mission to help them,” Mrs Webber said.

“He had this beautiful gentle nature – even his exes still love him,” she added.

Known by friends as a “natural performer”, Daniel got his start on the decks at 17, and was passionate about bringing dance music to the north.

His mother said he was dedicated to ensuring parties and festivals were run smoothly and safely, calling her late son a “very responsible” man.

“He had that way about him. He was very responsible and he would run events properly. It was all about enjoying the music,” Mrs Webber said.

He also leaves behind a little sister, Michelle

Tributes have been flowing on Facebook since the tragic news, with fellow DJ Brad King calling Daniel “an absolute legend of a human who played a huge part in the underground music scene in Northern NSW.”

“Webber helped me out a lot in my early days of DJing around Byron, hooking me up with many gigs.”

Musician Louis Emile said Daniel was his “biggest inspiration” and said their music journey together led to him becoming a “best friend”.

Meanwhile, Tessa Shaw of Coolangatta remembered his “epic personality,” saying, “He touched the hearts of everyone he met.”
