Euphoria star Angus Cloud’s sad cause of death finally revealed

Late Euphoria star Angus Cloud’s death shocked the world in July – two months on, tragic new details of his passing have been revealed.

'Euphoria' star dead at 25

Angus Cloud died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and more, Page Six has confirmed. He was 25.

The late Euphoria star suffered acute intoxication from the combination of drugs which also included benzodiazepine, according to the Alameda County coroner.

News of Cloud’s shocking death came in July when his family released a statement announcing his unexpected passing.

“It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” the statement initially released to TMZ read. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.”

“Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss,” they continued. “The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence.”

The family urged fans and friends to remember Cloud for “his humour, laughter and love for everyone.”

Shortly after, details of his death began to surface. TMZ initially obtained the 911 call, where his mother reported a “possible overdose” at around 11:30am. Monday.

She had found him in their Oakland, California, home without a pulse. The Oakland Police Department pronounced Cloud dead upon arrival.

A source told Page Six that, at the time of his death, Cloud had been battling suicidal ideations.

The actor — who played Fezco “Fez” on Euphoria — had been mourning his father, who had just died a few weeks prior. After burying him in Ireland, Cloud returned to California and was staying with family to work through his grief, the source said.

Following the news, tributes began to pour in from all corners of Hollywood, including from “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson.

“There was no one quite like Angus. He was too special, too talented and way too young to leave us so soon. He also struggled, like many of us, with addiction and depression,” he told us.

“I hope he knew how many hearts he touched. I loved him. I always will. Rest in Peace, and God bless his family.”

The breakout actor rose to fame playing a drug dealer in the HBO hit drama. However, little is known about Cloud’s own struggle with substance abuse.

In April, a man claiming to be Cloud’s former talent manager, Diomi Cordero, alleged that they met while the actor was a patient at a rehab facility in 2021.

He claimed that, at one point, he was forced to administer Narcan and CPR to Cloud, who was experiencing an overdose.

However, to our knowledge, Cloud had not spoken openly about his own personal substance abuse issues.

Nonetheless, in February 2022, Cloud told Complex Magazine that he hoped his role in “Euphoria” taught viewers to have some “sympathy” for those battling drug addiction.

“Because addiction is serious and a lot of doctors call it a disease, it’s a real thing. People don’t understand it. It’s easy to talk about and it’s easy to say, ‘Just say no,’” he said at the time.

“But for someone who is in active addiction, that is damn near impossible and they will throw their whole life away and they will die because of this disease or whatever, and then they will say it’s not a disease because you ‘choose’ to do drugs. You don’t ‘choose’ to do cancer.”

TMZ was the first to break the news of Cloud’s cause of death.
