Australian star Ruby Rose drops Taylor Swift revelation online
The Aussie star, who was part of Taylor Swift’s girl squad a decade ago, has taken the rare step of responding to commentary about the megastar online.
Australian star Ruby Rose has come out swinging for Taylor Swift online.
The John Wick 2 actress, who was famously a member of Swift’s iconic 2015 ‘girl squad’, took to Threads to clap back at a user who argued Swift didn’t use her billionaire status for good. Per Forbes, Swift is worth an estimated $US1.6 billion.
“lol. She used to scroll go fund me like a social media app. Clicking ‘reach their donation’ like the ‘like’ button,” Rose, 39, wrote on the social media platform.
Rose’s defences didn’t end there, with the Melbourne actress also responding to a user who claimed Swift was secretly a Donald Trump supporter, despite the Grammy winner publicly backing Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

“As someone who has spent many nights discussing the world, social injustice and life, with The Show Girl herself. I refuse to say her name in the same sentence as the hate group, Wackadoodles, are conspiring to attach her to. But what I will say is this …” Rose began.
“Given her public position against Trump, and his against her. If you are falling for the propaganda ‘Trad wife’ ‘X, y, z’ claims, you are most definitely walking into the biggest man made, rage bait, black hole. Stop it. It’s not true, and it’s incredibly stupid. It’s also embarrassing and hurtful to see energy put into this. Keep that energy and let’s take it where it’s necessary and needed.”
While Rose hasn’t been seen with Swift in several years, the star is clearly still chummy with the pop singer a decade after Swift’s somewhat infamous girl squad era, which saw her often flanked by her famous posse including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne.

Back in 2016, Swift publicly presented Rose with the top award at the annual GLAAD Media Awards (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) in Los Angeles, recognising her commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.
“She [Rose] tells the world that no one can judge us, and no one can stop us. She is a woman of many talents. She is my friend, Ruby Rose,” Swift said onstage at the time.
Rose has traditionally not been shy to defend Swift on social media, including during her past feuds with Kanye West and Katy Perry.
The Pitch Perfect 3 star is currently splitting her time between her home in Melbourne and Los Angeles.
