Abbie Chatfield checks into health retreat in Thailand after feeling ‘depleted and burnt out’
TV and radio personality Abbie Chatfield has shared a health update with fans after escaping to Thailand for a much-needed rest.
Abbie Chatfield has checked herself into a “medical and health centre” in Thailand after feeling increasingly “depleted and burnt out” from her work schedule.
The TV and radio personality shared the health update on her podcast, It’s A Lot, telling listeners she began feeling an “addiction to work” that became unhealthy to sustain.
It wasn’t a traditional podcast episode for Chatfield, who recently hosted the BINGE dating series FBoy Island, as she was trying to take a break from work. Instead, she simply spoke freely and briefly about why she escaped to Thailand for a much-needed rest.
“So I’ve just decided to not do an episode this week, I’m really sorry, I guess this is the episode – a personal update,” she began in her 10-minute message.
“I came to this retreat because I’ve been absolutely depleted and burnt out by the start of this year for a number of reasons. But I’ve been here for about five days and I think I’ve realised that my priorities need to shift a bit, to be honest, I’ve taken on so many jobs and so many roles.
“I’m trying to figure out what I do and don’t want to do and I’m trying to not push myself to work way harder than I need to.”
Chatfield admitted she’s finding it difficult to unwind at the retreat even after five days, which worries her.
She said she has become such a workaholic that upon her return to Australia, she was considering recording an upcoming podcast immediately after getting off her international flight at 6:20am.

“These five days here have been incredibly difficult, which is bizarre because all I’ve done is sit around and get massages and swim and it’s not been difficult obviously for that reason,” she said. “But mentally, I think I have a genuine addiction to work … I think that my only value comes from work.”
Chatfield has indeed been busy this past year. On top of her podcast, she hosted the BINGE original dating series FBoy Island, was a judge on The Masked Singer, kicked off her live shows, The Trauma Dump Tour, and continued to host her radio program, Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield, every weeknight.
“I just had a realisation you know, that honestly, that all I’ve done is work for the past couple of years. I have almost no social life anymore,” she said.
“Now I’ve gotten to a point where my normal is working so much and not socialising. And that has led to a kind of a social anxiety being formed and anxiousness around meeting new people.”
The former reality TV star – she became a household name after placing runner-up on The Bachelor in 2019 – concluded by apologising to fans for not delivering this week’s podcast.
“I’m sorry to let you down with the podcast this week,” she said. “I’ll be back next week with a new podcast. It will be wonderful, I hope. I just need a little bit more of a break.”
