The 3 Logies Lisa Wilkinson SHOULD have won!

LISA Wilkinson has opened up about being relentlessly bullied as a teenager, admitting that she can’t believe she survived it.

Speaking to Woman’s Day, the Today co-host explained that the harrowing experience left her feeling “powerless”.

“I still don’t know how I survived it because every day I went to school I didn’t know if I was going to get beaten up,” she told the publication.

“I became really good at hiding it. I hid it from my parents, I even hid it from my girlfriends because I didn’t want them to be subjected to the bullying as well.”

The 57-year-old presenter admitted that at the time, she felt “completely humiliated” as the ongoing issue led to her isolating herself and giving up activities that she loved, such as ballet.

“When you get bullied, you want to disappear,” Wilkinson said.

“You don’t want to shine at anything. So something I was really good at and that I loved, I gave up because the bullies thought it was uncool.”

As a result of the situation, she finished up year 12 with results she wasn’t particularly proud of — and made herself a promise.

“The day I walked out of the gates of Campbelltown High School, the scene of so much upset for me, I made a promise to myself that never again was I going to let someone else decide who I was and what my worth was in this world.”
