AMY Adams has admitted that she was reduced to tears by David O. Russell on the set of American Hustle.

Speaking to British GQ magazine, the 41-year-old actor said the director’s infamous temper was almost too much for her to handle.

“I was really just devastated on set,” said Adams, who was nominated for an Oscar for her role in the 2013 film.

“I mean, not every day, but most. Jennifer (Lawrence) doesn’t take any of it on. She’s Teflon. And I am not Teflon. But I also don’t like to see other people treated badly.

“It’s not OK with me. Life to me is more important than movies. It really taught me how to separate work and home. Because I was like, I cannot bring this experience home with me to my daughter.”

Amy Adams isn’t the only star who has clashed with the director.

George Clooney allegedly scuffled with David O. Russell on the set of 1999’s Three Kings.

Five years later when the actor spoke to Premiere magazine, there was still bad blood between the two.

“Quite honestly, if he comes near me, I’ll sock him right in the f**king mouth,” said Clooney.

Russell responded in a separate interview, denying he attacked the movie star.

“I never physically attacked him,” said the director, “If I ran into him, I’d say, ‘Shut the f**k up, you lying-ass bit*h’”.

When filming I Heart Huckabees in 2004, Russell clashed with Lily Tomlin, calling the actor a “bit*h” and a “c**t” in a shocking tirade which later leaked online (look it up on YouTube, you’ll be flabbergasted).

Both Clooney and Tomlin have since buried the hatchet with the director.

In the GQ interview, Amy Adams also weighed in on the pay gap between the male and female stars of American Hustle and said she was fully aware of it at the time.

“I knew I was being paid less and I still agreed to do it because the option comes down to do it or don’t do it,” she said.

“So you just have to decide if it’s worth it for you. It doesn’t mean I liked it.”

A leaked email revealed that Adams and co-star Jennifer Lawrence only received seven back-end points (a percentage of the film’s profit after production and marketing costs) as opposed to Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jeremy Renner and David O. Russell who all received nine points.
