Julia Morris reminisces about hilarious 2015 Logies blunder
Julia Morris’ epic 2015 Logies blunder was the talk of the awards. Six years later, she’s opened up about how it all went so wrong.
Comedian Julia Morris has reminisced about her biggest live TV gaffe, in which she infamously forgot to read out the nominees for an award at the 2015 Logies.
The I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! co-host appeared on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa to address the epic blunder this morning, recalling how she’d attempted to deliver a joke aimed at members of the audience only to discover they weren’t in their seats.
Distracted by the failed joke, she completely forgot to read out those nominated for the most outstanding entertainment program and jumped straight to announcing the winner, leaving the audience confused.

“I was on the stage presenting and I was doing a joke like I was going to get someone to present with me but they couldn’t come tonight, and they were going to do a close-up on the person. I said to them, ‘Do let me know if those people aren’t in their seats because the joke won’t work,’ they’re like ‘Yeah fine whatever, off you go lady,’” Morris explained, adding that she soon discovered they were not, in fact, seated in the crowd.
“I just thought, you know what this joke is not working, I’m going to get on with the award … And I forgot to read out the nominees.”
Laughing as she recalled cluing in to her mistake, she said she was momentarily stunned by how rude the audience had been not applauding for the winner.

“The room was so weird because The Voice won right, so I was like is this an anti-Channel Nine thing? I don’t understand, this is a bad attitude in this room, someone just won an award you need to applaud them!
“I’ve got Delta and Seal in front of me and I’m going ‘people are so disingenuous’ and then I was like ‘Oh my god! Who else thought they deserved the award more?’
“That’s when it occurred to me … 12 months those people worked, they got their nominations, they waited for the big moment and they don’t even get their name read out on the night by this idiot!”
At the time of the moment three years ago, social media lit up to pat her on the back for how she handled the slip-up.
“Let’s pretend it hasn’t happened, ladies and gentlemen, the nominees … I wish I had my glasses,” she had before reading out the names as they hilariously feigned excitement in the audience.
Fronting the Today Show the next day, she joked that she was too busy flirting with international celebrity guest Ricky Martin.
“I mean (he is) swoontastic. I looked down and he was in my seat and I thought, ‘Mummy will be back in a minute,’ and then I realised I was wasting time, so I thought, ‘Oh my Gosh, I better get on with it … And the winner is …”
She said she realised the blunder while Darren McMullen was giving his acceptance speech on behalf of The Voice team.
