International AACTAs announced with Nicole Kidman winning Best Actress
Nicole Kidman is dominating the 2022 awards season, picking up yet another win for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in Being The Ricardos.
Nicole Kidman has been dominating awards seasons for decades, and it looks like 2022 is no exception.
The 54-year-old Australian actress is a hot favourite to win the Academy Award this year for her portrayal of Lucille Ball in Being The Ricardos, and in the meantime she’s picking up every gong on offer.
Kidman nabbed the award for Best Actress in Film overnight at the International Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards, following her win at the Golden Globes earlier this month.
She’s also been nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award, with the ceremony set to take place in late February. The Oscars nominations will be announced next week.
“This is an enormous honour to accept this award … It means so much to have this acknowledged by my Australian film peers. Thank you AACTA. Thank you Australia. I’m completely chuffed,” Kidman said.
Elsewhere among the winners at the 11th annual International AACTA Awards, western drama The Power Of The Dog won Best Film, Best Lead Actor in Film for Benedict Cumberbatch, and Best Supporting Actor in Film for Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee.
In the television category, Kate Winslet scored Best Lead Actress in a Series for Mare Of Easttown, while Australian actor Murray Bartlett won Best Lead Actor in a Series for The White Lotus.
