Samsung is set to drop several bombshells at its flagship product showcase – Galaxy Unpacked.
If its recent announcements at the world’s most influential tech event, CES (Consumer Electronics Show) are an indication, it looks like we’re getting a huge influx of AI.
Whether we like it or not.
The tech juggernaut is expected to announce an introduction of AI to every one of its new products – and every part of our lives. Some integrations we might have expected, like AI in TVs, phones, fitness trackers. Others, may be surprising – like our diets, lifestyles and mirrors.
That’s right, there will be AI to assist you with your skincare. Samsung unveiled its MICRO LED mirror at CES, designed to analyse your skin type and provide recommendations.
Didn’t think you needed to AI in your bathroom/bedroom or to help you deal with wrinkles? You do now.
Settling heated debates on what to eat is also going to become easier, thanks to Samsung AI Bixby’s meal suggestions based on what you have in your fridge. The virtual assistant will even let you know if anything’s about to expire.
In the living room, there’s the new Samsung Vision AI which will bring convenient features like Live Translate and Click to Search to our TV.
“Vision AI is the next step on our journey, enabling more TVs across our 2025 range to intelligently adapt to individual viewing preferences and environments, and intuitively personalise and optimise every interaction – from streaming, to gaming, to managing your connected home your way, through voice or touch commands,” said Samsung vice president of consumer electronics, Jeremy Senior, in a press release.
The notoriously tight-lipped Korean OEM is keeping everything about Galaxy Unpacked hush-hush, although this year’s invite suggests the new Galaxy S series will be headlining – along with a more “natural” approach to AI with the brand’s next generation of Galaxy AI.
Until then, we can’t help but geek away at a few different rumours and leaks. Here are some of our top whispers we’re hoping to see at Galaxy Unpacked.
When is Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025?
Samsung confirmed this year’s Galaxy Unpacked event will be held at the SAP Centre in San Jose on January 22, 2025.
Galaxy S series and Galaxy AI
With AI being at the tip of everyone’s tongue, it’s likely Samsung will again be laser focused on improving the mobile AI experience with their new Galaxy S series as well creating a “more natural and intuitive” way forward with the next generation of Galaxy AI.
“The next evolution of Galaxy AI is coming and it’s going to change the way you interact with the world every day. The new Galaxy S series is about to set the bar once again for mobile AI experiences now and into the future,” the company writes in the invite released earlier this week.
“Join us as we unveil a new chapter in mobile AI – premium Galaxy innovations that bring seamless convenience into every moment of your life.”
If previous Unpacked events are anything to go by, we’ll probably see the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra make their debut this month. 91 mobiles even spotted an FCC certification for the flagships.
SAVE $100 OFF NEW GALAXY S SERIES
While Samsung is yet to confirm anything about the new releases, the company has already got the discount train running with an exclusive $20 eVoucher that will transform into a $100 eVoucher if you use it to pre-order the latest smartphone series by February 13, 2025.
The Good Guys will similarly offer $200 off when you pre-order an eligible Samsung Galaxy phone. You’ll just need to register once the pre-order period starts so you can receive a special promo code.
Galaxy Ring
Samsung has confirmed the original Galaxy Ring will be available in two new larger sizes (14 and 15), expanding the range from sizes 5 to 15 from February.
The Samsung Health app will also get a facelift with “more personalised and comprehensive health updates” to “help you achieve a good night’s sleep. It will “go beyond analysing sleep patterns” and include two new features – Sleep time guidance and a Mindfulness tracker.
• Sleep time guidance: This will suggest “optimal bedtime” based on your personal sleep patterns and daily habits.
• Mindfulness tracker: You will be able to monitor your moods and follow breathing exercises and meditations all within the tracker. This will be a nice change for those who aren’t a fan of how the Ring currently uses subscription-based apps like Calm and links out to different YouTube videos for different types of exercises.
Galaxy Ring 2
If Samsung follows a similar run sheet as last year, we might also get a teaser for a new Galaxy Ring ahead of the second (and final) Unpacked event of the year around July.
The rumour mill suggests we could be getting more accurate sensors, longer batter life, better AI and extra ring sizes. These aren’t exactly super out of the box updates, so it could be very likely the next step for the wearable.
AR glasses
Augmented Reality (AR) glasses could also be on the cards, with the a report from China-based firm Wellsen XR predicting the Samsung XR headset may be released mid to late 2025. Publications including Tom’s Guide says it’s likely the company will only reveal a small teaser of the prototype, leaving the actual full release later on.
TechRadar points out the leaks suggest the glasses might end up similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, currently the king of the AR glasses market. Potential specs include a 12MP camera sensor, Qualcomm AR 1 chipset, 155mAh battery and 50g weight.
Where can I watch Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025?
In Australia, fans can live stream the event next Thursday (January 23) at 5am AEDT via Samsung’s YouTube channel, the Samsung website and Samsung Newsroom.
When can I pre-order the new Galaxy S series?
Past Unpacked events suggest pre-orders will start shortly after the announcements are made, with products likely to be ship approximately a month later.
