The end of financial year (EOFY) may not be the most exciting-sounding date on the calendar but if you’re someone who likes a bargain it is an event you won’t want to miss.

The sales event, held in the weeks leading up to June 30, is when scores of retailers like Catch offer hefty discounts across major categories.

It’s one of the last times you can expect to see sizeable savings until Black Friday in November — which is a long time between shops.

WHEN IS EOFY?

In Australia EOFY will fall on Thursday, June 30 2022. However, the date for EOFY changes country to country.

In New Zealand EOFY falls on March 31, while in the United Kingdom EOFY is on April 5.

EOFY sales occur in the lead-up to June 30, so expect discounts to go live in the weeks prior to then.

WHAT DOES EOFY STAND FOR?

EOFY stands for “end of financial year” and is an important date for anyone who owns a business.

In Australia EOFY marks the date for when you can start filing your tax return and if you run a business it’s when you would complete tasks like an inventory stocktake, summaries of debts and assets as well as other financial reports.
