Those who know me, know I love to save a penny so when I heard ‘Very Shelley’ was the perfect dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s viral Pillow Talk liner, I was in. For my skin tone this colour is the perfect nude liner with a touch of pinky/brown. It makes my lips look fuller, more defined and creates the most perfect base for a good nude lippy – although I personally like to just fill in the rest of my lips with the pencil (the colour is THAT good). But it’s the sleek design I keep going back to them for, they go with pretty much anything – from active wear to (semi) corporate wear, rare for black trainers which are almost always super sporty or fugly (in a bad way). “This is my new favourite everyday face product that I can just slap on and head out the door. Fenty Beauty’s new Hydra Vizor Huez is a mineral SPF moisturiser with a really beautiful formulation that’s super hydrating and nourishing to the skin. It’s got excellent coverage, just enough for everyday, and works seamlessly with all other beauty products. You may think the price tag is high at $54, but I love that it comes in this handy refill system that will help you save money in the long run, and help the environment too. The shade range may also seem minimal compared to the rest of Fenty Beauty’s line-up – there’s 10 to choose from – but the shades are meant to be super flexible. Here I’m wearing shade 2 which is a perfect match to my spray tan from the weekend, but I may need to swap to shade 1 during the winter time.” – Marina Tatas, Shopping Writer
”Just when I thought I had ditched water bottles with a straw for good, I found myself converting back to one while I was in America – we’re talking about an Owala here. The whole experience is really lovely – you choose which chain you’d like then which (if any) charms you want to add to your forever bracelet. I went for a chunky ‘Figaro’ chain to match the rest of my stack and a simple shell charm because I’m a beach girl at heart. My favourite part is that you don’t have to worry about your jewellery falling off, getting lost in the ocean or taking it off before your daily shower. Available in three different colours (or flavours): Choc Caramel, Raspberry Drop and Vanilla Chai, this is a hydrating gloss that plays a great role as the touch up for your lips and cheeks throughout the day. My personal favourite is the Choc Caramel which has cemented its place in my purse as my go-to lip gloss, which also adds some colour and shine to my cheeks (basically a blush and highlighter in one). ”This month I’m in the middle of absolutely loving ‘Tom Lake’ by Ann Patchett. I love everything by this author, so couldn’t wait to get my hands on this latest release – although I’m a bit late to the ‘Tom Lake’ party thanks to my huge TBR on my bedside table. But I finally picked it up and I can’t put it down. Patchett has such a beautiful style of storytelling that is seemingly simple yet so warm, funny and packed with detailed imagery and human observations. Over a summer of cherry picking, central character, Lara tells her three grown up daughters of the time she worked as an actress and fell in love with the famous Peter Duke, a story they’ve been desperate to hear. As Patchett weaves seamlessly from the present summer heat to the mystery of the past, I’m as enraptured as Lara’s girls, eagerly awaiting to learn more, while relishing words and phrases that strike a cord on so many levels. “I have been using this cleanser for nearly three months now and for a beauty product worth just $19.99, it has certainly gone above and beyond. Containing chemical exfoliant salicylic acid, and zinc sulfate, this non-foaming cleanser is powerful enough to get rid of impurities and makeup while also getting in and refining the pores, all without being stripping or drying. I use one to two pumps of this cleanser in the evenings, after removing most of my makeup with The Secret Cleansing Balm, but even when I forget to go in first with my cleansing balm, a double cleanse with this Swisse cleanser does everything I need. The new Medik8 Total Moisturie Daily Facial Cream is the perfect everyday moisturiser – it’s lightweight enough to use in the morning, but still super nourishing to pack on at night. It’s designed for all skin types and pumped with prebiotic peptides, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and lipids to really help restore your skin barrier – and that’s exactly what this fancy little cream did for me. Green Dot by Madeleine Gray, $8 at Amazon Australia
“I didn’t love this book at first. It took me a chapter or two to get over how privileged its main character, Hera, is – she’s just finished her PhD and, after rinsing academia, has to get a job. “Why would anyone dream about having a job? I felt like the world was trying to trick me. I felt like the butt of a joke I did not understand.”
In getting a job, she starts an affair with her married colleague and becomes ‘the other woman’. Some describe Hera as ‘a gen Z Bridget Jones’. While she is endearingly messy and a little lost, she’s also more real than Bridget.
Gray’s writing is dry and witty, giving Hera a fresh and compelling snark. Her unfiltered commentary and self-examination reflect the sardonic self-reflection of the meme generation. Her brashness contrasts with her internal anxiety, making her relatable and empathetic. Her morals, or lack thereof, can be infuriating, but a moment around 80 per cent into the book, crystal clear in self-awareness and insight, redeems her.

Sukin Bond Build Weightless Reconstructor Serum, $12.58 at Amazon Australia
”I’ve been loving this Sukin Weightless Reconstructor Serum as a leave-in conditioner treatment for my hair. My hair has been coloured over the years and has definitely seen its fair share of extreme heat, so I am relentlessly trying to revive my dry and brittle ends. This reconstructor serum is a great one for adding some moisture into the ends of your hair whenever they’re feeling a little dry in between washes. You can also use this as a bond-building treatment prior to washing your hair, and as a reparative serum after a wash. I’ll apply this most days, just a super small amount rubbed through my hands to the ends of my hair after a brush, and find that it makes my hair really smooth and silky even when it might be feeling dry beforehand. I also use this before and after washing my hair and sometimes even in the middle of blow drying it, just to ensure it’s as hydrated as possible.
