Robot vacuum and mop combos have gone from luxury item to everyday essential in many households.
Not only do they save serious time and make daily upkeep a breeze, they’re also a thoughtful gift for elderly parents or anyone who struggles with the physical demands of cleaning.
Today’s models go far beyond basic sweeping. Think AI-powered smart navigation, dirt-detection sensors, hot water mopping, self-emptying stations, and even built-in video call features so you can check on pets or loved ones while your floors get a deep clean. Some auto-empty docks can store dust and debris in a sealed bag for up to a month, minimising maintenance even more.

The best part? Robot vacuums are more accessible than ever, with many high quality models now under $1000, making them a smart investment for any home.
Our pick is Ecovacs’ DEEBOT T50 OMNI, which is now only $1299 at Amazon Australia. I have two small boys who leave our floors littered with crumbs, socks and bits of Lego at all times. I also have a big dog who sheds like nobody’s business, my own long locks and a husband who thinks that ‘tidying’ means shoving everything under the couch.
Because of this, and an ever-growing to-do list, I figured it was time to try out a robot vac and mop to see if it would help me regain some time and sanity. Thankfully Ecovacs delivered with their DEEBOT T50 OMNI. This mid-range model will set you back around $1299 on Amazon Australia and I think it works just as well as many of the more high-end machines. One happy five-star reviewer said “My fairy godmother. This cleaner is ideal and does a great job cleaning up after my little dog (hair) and when the grandkids visit.”
To help you sweep up the best robot vacuum and mop for your home, we’ve rounded up some of our favourites and shared a few tips on what to look out for.

BEST ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP COMBO FOR CARPETS
Ecovacs Deebot T50 Omni Robot Vacuum and Mop*, $1299 at Amazon Australia
Tried and Tested by Deirdre Avenell, news.com.au checkout Shopping Writer
Like many similar models, the Ecovac DEEBOT T50 OMNI robot vacuum and mop is an almost fully-automated cleaning system. It has a charging station with one tank on top that you put clean water into, and another that holds the dirty water that gets automatically sucked out of the mop after it’s done. It also has a dust bag inside the station, which the little vacuum empties itself into when its on-board dustbin fills up.
This makes cleaning your home and the robovac a relatively hands-free process – hooray! – and my kids also really got a kick out of the fact that their new robot friend heads home every now and again to “poop” (empty its bin), “have a bath” (auto-wash the mop pads) and “go to bed” (recharge).
It was super easy to set up and connect to the Wi-Fi, then watch in fascination as it auto-mapped its way around my house. Overall I was impressed with the T50 OMNI, especially its performance on carpets. It’s simple to operate thanks to the customisable options in the app that you control it through. There is a voice control option if you prefer that, but I’m honestly happier using the app. It lets you schedule your cleaning times, adjust suction power, water usage, speed/thoroughness and whether you want it to vacuum only, mop only, vacuum and mop at the same time, or vacuum first then mop.
An included sweeper spins around underneath the bot to get into the corners of every room easily enough, sweeping dust and debris out so that it can be sucked up. This TruEdge 2.0 technology also refers to two mop pads that are automatically extended when the bot senses it’s at the side of a room, so that it can clean all the way to the edge of any space. This particular model is also very thin at only 81mm high, meaning it can quite easily get in underneath couches and other raised furniture for a thorough clean.
The T50 OMNI’s suction is really good so it’s great on carpeted areas, easily dealing with the mountain of dog (and human) hair embedded in our floors without it ever getting wrapped around the clever ZeroTangle 2.0 roller. It leaves my floors grit-free and comfortable to walk on barefoot, and it hot mops them so that I know they’re properly clean – an advantage when you know the kids are going to be eating dropped chips and crackers off it at some point. It even hygienically cleans and dries itself afterwards so that I can easily get on with life knowing at least one task is being regularly checked off my to-do list.
While it’s not especially successful at vacuuming up Lego figurine heads, this robovac and mop actually has helped to solve the Lego littering problem too. Rather than hearing shouts of ‘No, I don’t want to!’ in stereo when asking our boys to pack up at the end of the day, they now initiate clean-up time themselves, knowing that the robovac will be coming for their precious plastic bits and pieces if they’re not safely stored away. Winning!

BEST ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP COMBO FOR HARD FLOORS
Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni Robot Vacuum and Mop*, $774 at The Good Guys
Tried and Tested by Claudia Coy, news.com.au checkout Social Media Producer
This was my first time using a robot vacuum and the Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni has completely changed the way I view housework.
Let’s start with the set up. It took just two pieces to prepare Vac Efron for action – all you have to do is attach the side brush to the main body and you’re ready to go!
The Omni station is just as easy, you simply attach the base ramp to the station, then add both the clean and dirty water tanks on top. What I’m saying is … you could put this whole set up together without even glancing at the instruction booklet (though it’s never a bad idea to double check). Amazing!
Once the unit is set up, you’ll need to connect the Deebot T30 Pro Omni to your phone via Bluetooth and then you can get started on the mapping process. This is when the robot vacuum will identify what it needs to avoid throughout the house, including walls, tables and couches.
One of the most impressive features of the robot vacuum was the TruEdge Adaptive Edge Mopping, which is centred around this small little mop foot (for lack of a better phrase) which kicks out from the main body to get a better reach when cleaning areas like along skirting boards or the corners of your room.
I also really loved the obstacle avoidance technology. Sure, the robot vacuum steered clear of any furniture, stairs and plants identified during the mapping process. But the robot cleaner also did a great job at detecting (and avoiding) new items in real time, including humans or pets that have entered the room while the cleaning task is in progress.
The best part? The Deebot T30 Pro Omni mops and cleans in one go so once you start the session on your phone, you’re free to go about your day while your new best friend does all the hard work for you (it even self-cleans at the OMNI station).
Even better – you don’t need to worry about any unpleasant wet carpet smells. The gadget lifts its mop pads when identifying carpet and rugs, ensuring none of the fabric furniture is left damp.

BEST PREMIUM ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP
Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop, $1494 at The Good Guys
Tried and Tested by Tahnee-Jae Lopez-Vito, news.com.au checkout Senior Shopping Writer
Introducing ‘Hermès’. This bougie Roborock robot vacuum and mop is the Ben and Jerry’s of the cleaning appliance world, a premium priced product packed with all the delicious bits that fully satisfy your cravings (and less of the useless bells and whistles you’ll never end up touching).
The Roborock robot vac takes the cake in terms of design, and honestly the rest of the bakery too! It stands out with its handy FlexiArm Design, which automatically extends the side brush when working corners and low-rise furniture. And when it’s not vacuuming, it uses the Extra Edge Mopping System to similarly dig into the edges of walls and benches.
Plus, the robot itself looks outrageously sexy. The textured panelling and the light indicator on the fully automatic base station also adds a level of sleek class that just raised rental prices here by 110 per cent.
Hermès made a few mid-task stops to the base station for a quick mop wash, and surprisingly it didn’t make much of a dent in the runtime. There also weren’t any streaks or slippery floors after mopping.
I was also surprised at how different the water flow levels were, which is good news if you have surfaces that demand extra care. It’s gentle enough for sealed flooring, such as hardwood, and powerful enough to scrub off dried-on debris from tiles.
The main downside is obviously the price. This robot vacuum is significantly pricier than most other options on the market, especially with more brands now including a fully automatic station and other corner-reaching tech.
But that’s not to say it’s not a premium robot vacuum cleaner worth the splurge. I personally found it’s one of the better, if not the best, robot vacuums I’ve tested. In fact, it’s yet to actually get stuck, which is unheard of (at least for me). It also targeted crevices and dried-on debris quite well, and gives a spotless clean overall.
I would honestly give it a higher score if the price was more wallet-friendly, but it’s still an excellent robot vacuum and nevertheless 100 per cent worth waiting for in sales events.

Dreame L20 Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop*, $1999 at Amazon Australia
Tried and Tested by Tahnee-Jae Lopez-Vito, news.com.au checkout Senior Shopping Writer
Another premium robot cleaner to keep your eye on during sales events is the Dreame L20 Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop. (Dreame actually does great deals year-round and is definitely a brand worth bookmarking.)
This unit has been one of the better robot vacuums I’ve tested in terms of getting a ‘proper’ clean, reducing the need for me to go over certain spots again manually. Its object avoidance skills also places it on my list of favourites.
Mopping left my floors shiny but not overly slippery or sticky like a regular mop. Plus I didn’t have to suffer any of the bad smells mops sometimes leave thanks to the automatic base station, which washes and dries the mop pads after every clean. (Although I definitely recommend regularly cleaning the station and robot vacuum at least once a week to reduce the build-up of grime and odours, just like with any other robot vacuum and mop with an automatic station.)
The most annoying thing about this Dreame robot vacuum was how the mop pads kept falling off after snagging on a cord under the bed.
But overall, this two-in-one robot cleaner is fantastic at being a ‘true’ hands-free gadget that requires very minimal human intervention. The app offers plenty of customisability to take care of the little things, such as choosing the cleaning direction to minimise potential streaking and increasing the mop-washing frequency (in addition to self-emptying the dust bin).
There’s also an option to let your robot know it’s working in a ‘pet environment’, which essentially gives the appliance a heads up for items like dog bowls and pet waste.

Tried and Tested by Cindy Du, former news.com.au checkout eCommerce Producer
The Narwal Freo X Ultra is one of the most advanced robot vacuums I’ve ever used. After six months of testing it in a busy household of four, I can confidently say it holds up to the daily chaos.
It includes auto-washing, self-emptying, and AI-powered cleaning modes. And let me tell you, our whole house is a high-traffic zone. Someone is always up – day or night – and the space is filled with carpets everywhere, uneven floors, bins, shoes, shoe racks, boxes, and chairs – you name it, it’s there.
If you’re looking for a completely hands-free experience with both vacuuming and mopping, this could be the perfect choice.
Right out of the box, set up was straightforward – just plug it in and set up the base station with cleaning liquid. Like most high-end robot vacuums, it does take up some space, but the companion app is user-friendly, letting me easily map the home and customise cleaning schedules and preferences. For some days and specific rooms I just wanted vacuuming only, and for others, just a mop session, which was easy to adjust.
The suction power is impressive, effortlessly handling dust, dirt, and the ultimate nightmare – hair. It tackles carpets, tiles, and hardwood floors like a pro. Like most robot vacuums, cords can be a hassle, often leading to tangles. However, the detachable spiral brush makes untangling quick and easy, so it’s never a major issue.
One thing I was initially worried about was how it would perform on wooden floors, especially with mopping. Luckily, it doesn’t leave the floors too wet, which is a big relief. The mop function uses just the right amount of water, so my hardwood floors stay clean without any risk of water damage or streaks.
Like with any robotic vacuum, it won’t get into every nook and cranny, especially in homes packed with furniture and everyday items. But for daily cleaning, it does a fantastic job at keeping everything fresh.
Overall, if you’re after a smart, automated cleaning solution that minimises daily effort, the Narwal Freo X Ultra is a solid investment. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty close to effortless cleaning with minimal intervention.
BEST AFFORDABLE, BUDGET ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP COMBO
Roborock Q7B Robot Vacuum, $349 at Roborock
What You Need To Know
Sitting well under the usual $1000 mark is this much more budget friendly Roborock robot vacuum and mop. It has many of the same features you would expect from its pricier siblings, such as multi-level mapping, decent suction power specs, a variety of customisable settings via the accompanying app as well as a Dual Anti-tangle brush designed to handle pet hair and long locks.
This small entry-level vacuum cleaner also has off-peak charging, which schedules the robot to recharge when there’s less demand for electricity so you can potentially save a bit of money on your next energy bill.
eufy Clean RoboVac L60 Robot Vacuum with Self Emptying Station, $799 at The Good Guys
What You Need To Know
The eufy unit includes many similar features compared to its pricier competitors, including a two-in-one vacuum and mop design, voice control compatibility and a self-emptying station that can hold up to a month’s worth of debris.
Plus, unlike most robot vacuum cleaners, this actually comes with a remote control, which is a pretty rare godsend for those who hate fiddling with buggy (or simply confusing) apps.
“We have dogs and can never keep up, but this vacuum has turned maintenance (and) cleaning into a breeze … And unlike other vacuums where you have to empty the chamber constantly with all this dog hair, this one is a dream with its self emptying station,” a customer enthused.
“This guy has some serious suction … We get a lot of dirt brought in by our five dogs, and this helps keep the floors from feeling slick and sandy. It can’t get bigger items like little sticks or pieces of toy fluff that they’ve shredded, but it does get most of the hair, tumbleweeds, dirt, and bits of grass and leaves they bring in. The floor always feels very clean after it’s run through a room.”
BEST ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP COMBO FOR TILE FLOORS
Ecovacs DEEBOT X8 Pro OMNI, $2499 at The Good Guys
What You Need To Know
This self-empty robot vacuum is the latest enemy of stains and streaks, featuring high speed scrubbing and 16 clean water nozzles to prevent cross contamination and avoid unattractive water marks that leave your floors looking and feeling dirtier than before. And like with any premium vacuum cleaner, you can expect a hot water washing function – but this time it automatically changes the temperature depending on the dirtiness and room type. The hot air drying system even rotates the mop roller 360-degrees to make sure it’s fully dry and won’t cause that gross wet mop smell.
This vacuum cleaner also stands out with its extendable side brush, which juts out to reach into the wall edges, corners and tight crevices.
“This vacuum is the Rolls Royce of vacuums! I upgraded from the Deebot OMNI T20 and wow I am impressed with the Deebot X8 Pro Omni! Its precision is unmatched, raved a shopper.
“The self cleaning roller makes the world of difference with how clean and streak free it leaves the floors. I love the added addition of the compartment to add in the floor cleaner. It works perfect on both my floorboards and carpet, and its ability to move around objects without knocking into them is great. It also will do my whole house 4-5 times without having to refill the clean water tank. Highly recommend this vacuum. It is worth every cent!”
eufy Clean RoboVac X10 Pro Omni, $1699 at Amazon Australia
What You Need To Know
Using a traditional mop can feel surprisingly heavy, especially if you have a big mop head or a poor wringer bucket that barely squeezes out any of the built up water and gunk. And it doesn’t help that tiles are not only one of the most mopped areas, but also the likely type of flooring used in high traffic areas such as the kitchen and bathroom.
This new eufy robot vacuum can help make washing floors easier, using 1kg of downward pressure to scrub floors and eliminate grime. However, it’s the Edge-Hugging Mopping feature that makes this robot cleaner stand out, allowing the unit to target wall edges and corners when mopping – a feature often reserved for vacuum mode.
The gadget also uses an ‘always-wet mop’ function to ensure there’s always freshwater ready to clean dried-on stains. The mop pads are also created in a pentagon shape to reduce the gap between the mops when they rotate, helping tackle more surface area.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A ROBOT VACUUM?
Finding the right robot vacuum for everyone can be a challenge, so we’ve narrowed down the products above on a few important factors including these listed below.
Runtime
Keep in mind robot vacuums take much longer to clean compared to using a manual vacuum. It can take two to three hours to do an entire house, usually with two full sweeps.
Some robot cleaners can be customised to go over dirtier or heavy traffic areas more which can impact runtime, as well as the type of setting used.
Quiet mode will often give you the maximum runtime on a single charge since it uses the lowest suction power and generally just does one run. Turbo mode will provide the quickest and most powerful clean, but may need to charge during the process.
Using the mopping function may also reduce the battery runtime, even if it’s on Quiet mode.
Dustbin capacity
We’ve listed the on-board dust bin capacity for all the models above since not all robot vacuums come with a fully automatic base station. If you hate emptying the vacuum after every clean, a self-emptying station offers additional dust bag capacity, which can typically hold at least a month’s worth of dust and debris before needing to be replaced.
If you have allergies, a bagged option is a handy way to minimise exposure to any pollen and dust mites the gadget has picked up.
Mop attachment
These days, many smart robot vacuums are designed so the mop pads automatically raise off the floor when it detects carpet or rugs, and only need to be clipped onto the unit when you first set up the robot. There’s no need to manually attach a mop every time you want to use the mopping function, which may be the case for some robot vacuums.
HOW WE CHOOSE PRODUCTS
With hundreds of models available, it’s impossible to test every model out there. To help you find the best robot vacuum and mop, we tested multiple brands at a range of price points. In addition, our shopping team read hundreds of customer reviews and looked at test results and ratings from product review sites to help you find the best robot vacuum and mop for your home – from premium to budget price points.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT MAINTENANCE TASKS, SUCH AS EMPTYING THE DUSTBIN OR CLEANING THE BRUSHES, ARE REQUIRED FOR A ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP?
Taking care of your robot cleaner is the number one way to get the best bang for your buck, ensuring the appliance works as efficiently as it can, for as long as possible. These are a few habits to keep in mind when using your vacuum and mop combo.
Tidy the space
While robot vacuum and mops are designed to detect and avoid objects, they’re not perfect. So, it’s important to prepare the area by removing objects the robot cleaner could get stuck on. This includes power cords, clothes, toys, slippers, fabrics that hit the floor (e.g. curtains and quilt covers) and any other small or loose items.
Clean the sensors
The sensors are pretty much the ‘eyes’ of your robot cleaner. Give these a gentle wipe with a dry cloth to ensure the gadget can continue to efficiently navigate and avoid obstacles.
If your robot vacuum and mop is having trouble returning to its docking station, there’s a good chance the sensors are a little dirty.
Clean the filters
Many robot vacuum and mop combos come with washable filters, allowing you to rinse them under cold water after gently removing any hair and other debris. Let them fully air dry before reattaching them to the machine. If the filters aren’t washable, you can’t just skip this step and simply pick out any loose dirt.
Clean the mop pads
Depending on your specific model, you can throw mopping pads in the washing machine (without fabric softener) or hand wash them using warm water and detergent. Some units come with a self-cleaning functionality that washes and dries the pads, as well as auto empties the dustbin after every clean.
If the pads are particularly dirty, you can soak them in warm water beforehand to loosen any grime.
Clean the wheels
Similar to brushes, wheels build up a decent amount of dust and debris that can eventually limit how well the robot vacuum moves. That’s why it’s important to run a toothbrush, soft-bristled brush or the supplied cleaning brush over the wheels regularly. You can also grab your stick vac and use the crevice brush to reach into tight, hard-to-reach spaces.
CAN A ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP BE USED IN MULTI-LEVEL HOMES?
Yes – most robotic vacuum and mop combos can save at least two maps, so you can definitely use robot cleaners in multi-level homes. They can also be used in apartments or houses that have steps (rather than a staircase) that separate different areas. Plus, many models are designed to detect stairs and avoid falling down them.
IS IT SAFE TO LEAVE A ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP UNATTENDED?
It’s perfectly safe to leave your robot vacuum and mop alone, which is why most apps allow you to schedule and control the appliance remotely. If you don’t want it to enter a certain area, you can create no-go zones that essentially create a virtual wall in the robot’s clever mapping system.
The gadget can be programmed to avoid the space each time it runs or when needed. Many models also let you customise the settings so the appliance creates a barrier whenever it runs vacuum-only mode but not mopping (and vice versa).
HOW LOUD IS A ROBOT VACUUM AND MOP DURING OPERATION?
Most robot vacuum cleaners work at between 70 and 80 dB, which is similar to the ambience of a noisy restaurant.
Specs typically show the maximum noise level, which generally refers to how loud the robot cleaner runs when operating at its most powerful (e.g. deep clean). Some models offer a quiet mode that will reduce the suction power, allowing you to nap or entertain guests while the robot vac does its thing.
