At 23, I’m a little shy to admit that I have only just moved out of a single bed.

Whether out of a stubborn need to discipline my body into a space-saving line each night, or just pure laziness, I have simply never upgraded. That is, until the Emma Luxe - queen sized - mattress came along.

Never have I known such cloudlike comfort; such vast space as my head hits the pillow. To sum it all up nicely, the Emma Luxe mattress has been like falling asleep on one giant (and very supportive) marshmallow each night. Pure, unrestricted bliss.

Maybe it’s the four layers of foam that offer everything from breathability to cradled cushion. Perhaps it’s the Infinity Springs hidden beneath that support each zone of the body for a healthy sleep. Or maybe, it’s the cooling powers that whisk away body heat as quickly as it came. Either way, I’m never looking back.

Read on for our full review of why the Emma Luxe Mattress is the ultimate sleep upgrade.

1 MINUTE REVIEW: EMMA LUXE MATTRESS

Emma Luxe Mattress, $1200 (down from $2400) at Emma Sleep

What You Need To Know

It has not taken me long to fall in love with my new Emma Luxe Mattress.

I have always been unsure about memory foam mattresses, so this hybrid cooling option from Emma, which combines the best of spring support and breathy memory foam is a dream.

As Australia moves into the warmer months, the Emma Luxe Mattress is ready to fight the heat, thanks to ThermoSync® foam that uses NanoCarbon™ particles to absorb body heat and disperse it out of the mattress. Supporting it from beneath are multiple layers of foam, including AeroFoam and MemoryAdapt foam, to keep things breathable while also customising support and comfort for your unique body shape and sleeping style.

Infinity Springs are a welcome addition to this mattress, supporting your body while also preserving the life of the mattress. In the fortnight that I’ve been sleeping on this mattress, it’s felt so supportive yet plush and pressure-relieving in all the right places.

Delivery is effortless, with a text message alert to let you know on the day of arrival. And if you unpack your mattress by 5pm, you can even sleep on it by 10pm.

I’ve been sleeping on this mattress for two weeks now, and have reviewed it during spring as the nights start to get warmer. I am also testing this as a side sleeper.

DELIVERY AND SET UP

Upon ordering an Emma mattress, it’s possible to track your delivery online, as with a lot of online orders these days. My tracking did not provide me with many progress updates, which made it tricky to plan for the arrival of my mattress, but that could have been a quirk of my individual ordering process. A text message on the morning of delivery with an estimated time of arrival made things easy and I was able to arrange for someone to be home while I was out of the house. A follow up text message also let me know when the mattress had safely been delivered.

The package was delivered to the first floor of my home and at 53kg, was not too heavy for two people to carry upstairs. Unboxing was, frankly, much simpler than I expected.

A message on the box instructed me to leave the mattress to expand for five hours, with a QR code for more details. While the QR code didn’t lead to many more set up details, I quickly realised they were not needed as the mattress was easily unrolled and plastic packaging was simple to tear open without a special blade.

Within seconds, the mattress was inflating (so quick I barely had a chance to watch it), and we could pop it on the bed base to fully inflate over the next five hours.

HOW COMFORTABLE IS THE EMMA LUXE MATTRESS?

As mentioned earlier, I have been sleeping in a single bed for 23 years, so yes, I’d say the Emma Luxe Mattress is pretty freakin’ comfortable. That said, I genuinely did not expect the cooling hybrid to exceed expectations as it did.

The Emma Luxe Mattress is surprisingly thick despite looking slimmer when sitting in my deeper bed frame. Image: Jessica Smith

The first night sleeping on my new mattress happened to be an unusually hot night, where I would normally struggle to sleep. But the cooling abilities of the Emma Luxe Mattress allowed me to stay partially under my blanket, nice and cosy, just the way I like.

After two weeks sleeping in this bed though, I can confidently say that the mattress offers the absolute best blend of soft and firm, if you’re someone like me who likes their mattress on the softer side. Laying on the plush memory foam makes every single one of my joints feel like they’re floating in a weightless abyss, and on weekend mornings, I’ve refused to leave for hours. (Sorry, 6:30am run club.) Despite the cloudlike cushioning, the Emma Luxe Mattress is seriously supportive, with brilliant edge support and partner disturbance levels at an absolute low.

OTHER FEATURES OF THE EMMA LUXE MATTRESS?

Cooling tech and breathability

Made with ThermoSync® foam that uses NanoCarbon™ particles to absorb body heat and disperse it out of the mattress, the Emma Luxe Mattress is designed to be really temperature regulating. Plus, the AeroFoam layer is ultra breathable, which makes it great for warm Aussie weather.

Reduced partner disturbance

Just as your body is luxuriously cradled in the Emma Luxe Mattress, so is the movement you make when you’re rolling over in bed. The layers of foam in this mattress absorb motion so that your partner is unaffected. No more squeaky springs or jolting disturbances during the night, you can enjoy the bliss of the Emma Luxe Mattress without any disruption.

Great edge support

I’m unused to sleeping in a bed quite so large, so many mornings I’ve found myself curled up right on one side of the bed. But, with such great edge support, I’m always held in from getting too close to the edge and having limbs slip overboard.

Washable cover

A corner zip on the mattress allows you to not only see what the mattress is made of, but remove the UltraDry cover completely, to wash it anytime you need.

HOW MUCH DOES THE EMMA LUXE MATTRESS COST?

The innovative Emma Luxe Mattress is Emma’s second most luxurious mattress, not to mention a bestseller with its cooling technology.

It’s currently 50 per cent off, so we recommend jumping on that huge deal before it’s gone.

Here’s the price breakdown right now:

Single: $840 (RRP: $1680)

King single: $970 (RRP: $1940)

Double: $1110 (RRP: $2220)

Queen: $1200 (RRP: $2400)

King: $1370 (RRP: $2740)

If the Emma Luxe Mattress is not in your budget, Emma’s Comfort Adapt Mattress range is more affordable. Or, if you’re wanting to splash out on your mattress for the warmer months, the Emma Luxe Pro Mattress is designed with even more superior cooling technologies.

All Emma mattresses come with free delivery. For metro areas, the mattress will often be delivered as soon as the next day. For regional areas, it’s around two to seven business days.

You also have a 100 day trial so if you decide the mattress is not right for you, Emma will give you a full refund and handle the return at no cost to you. Plus, there’s a 10-year warranty for all mattresses.

VERDICT: IS THE EMMA LUXE MATTRESS WORTH IT?

To sum it up: I have already recommended the Emma Luxe Mattress to multiple friends, after just a fortnight of use.

The Emma Luxe Mattress combines cushy, plush, marshmallow-like comfort with reliable, sturdy spring support that doesn’t have you sinking into the mattress further than you should. As a side sleeper, it has been the perfect mattress, particularly to match with my memory foam pillow, and I have genuinely felt like my head, shoulder, knees and hips have been gently cradled and supported each night.

I’m yet to be able to properly speak on the cooling abilities of this mattress, compared to a regular mattress, but I have certainly not spent nights hot and sweaty as the Australian temperature rises.

I can say that my early Saturday mornings might never exist again, thanks to this Emma Luxe Mattress haven that makes me want to stretch out and stay comfy all day. So long, single bed.
