Whether it’s a perfect gold hoop or a dazzling necklace, we all have those pieces of jewellery that we simply can’t leave the house without – they’re an essential part of our personal style.
While gifting your loved ones jewellery can be super sentimental and personal, it’s not always easy finding something they’ll truly love and wear every day.
Kerryn Langer, founder of the Australian jewellery brand Arms of Eve that has been spotted on major celebs like Hailey Bieber, says “quality is so important” when looking for a new piece of jewellery.
She recommends looking out for the plating and checking to see if it is above one micron, vermeil and gold filled.
“It helps to think about a piece’s versatility and how you could add your personal style to make it your own,” Kerryn says.
To help you along the way, we’ve uncovered a list of premium Australian jewellery designers producing beautiful, timeless and quality pieces.
One of our top picks is by charlotte which Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore was recently spotted wearing at an event in Brisbane. Some of our favourite pieces worn by the A-Lister include the Gold Protected Path Ring, Gold I Am Loved Ring and Gold One Breath At A Time Ring.
BEST AUSTRALIAN JEWELLERY BRANDS
ARMS OF EVE
Australian fashion label Arms of Eve is known for its handmade jewellery, which is at once fashionable and trend-aligned, yet also finds you wearing its pieces for season after season. Drawing on travel inspiration, the pieces evoke jewels you might find at street stalls – beautiful hammered gold rings and cuffs, through to dainty beaded anklets.
The brand has also been spotted on major celebs including Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber, Jasmine Tookes, Winnie Harlow and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Kerryn says the brand’s most popular piece would have to be one of their beautifully textured, statement cuffs. The Olivia and Helios Cuffs are crushed gold, bold pieces that are perfect for stacking and elevating any outfit she says.

NAJO
Founded by Jo Tory in 1986, NAJO is one of Australia's most successful jewellery brands today. Growing up with a silversmith mother who crafted her own pieces, Tory was inspired by exquisite jewellery she discovered while travelling in Mexico. A believer of slow jewellery, NAJO produces beautiful pieces in small workshops from ethically sourced sterling silver, gold and gemstones. The designs, inspired by the natural world around us, offer clean uncluttered lines and a sense of timeless beauty and elegance.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING JEWELLERY
When looking for the right jewellery brands to include in our list, we evaluated several factors:
Quality: How many carats is the piece made from? Will it last or break after a few wears?
Price: We all know that jewellery can get pretty expensive so finding the perfect sweet spot to get the best quality at the best price is super important
Design: From chunky necklaces to dainty earrings, we tried to include a range of styles for each shopper's style.
Care: Can the pieces be worn 24/7 or will they break? Are they able to be worn in the pool or ocean?
Material: Are you a silver or a gold fan? Or perhaps you're a rulebreaker and don't mind mixing metals.

In addition, our shopping team read hundreds of customer reviews and looked at test results and ratings from product review sites to find the best jewellery brand from premium to budget to help you find the right one.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT JEWELLERY STYLES ARE TRENDING AT THE MOMENT?
Two-toned is definitely having its moment according to Kerryn.
“One of my first collections was a combination of silver and gold and I love how it comes full circle,” she says.
WHAT SHOULD YOU BUY IF YOU WANT A TIMELESS PIECE OF JEWELLERY?
“For a timeless piece, I’d recommend something more bespoke and designed especially for you in a solid material,” Kerryn suggests.
“This is always special, and it will last a lifetime.”
IS IT OK TO WEAR MIXED METALS?
The two-toned jewellery is making a comeback according to Kerryn.
She even reveals that Arms of Eve’s new edit, In Season Essentials, is launching soon and features mixed metals. She says it is designed to add “a little edginess to your every day stacks”. According to Kerryn, mixing metals is so trans-seasonal and forms the perfect base layer for your everyday style.
WHERE CAN I BUY JEWELLERY IN AUSTRALIA?
You can buy jewellery from any of the above Australian designers, but if you’re searching for more, you can check out more brands at THE ICONIC, Net-A-Porter, and SHIELS.
You can also shop the jewellery collections of Australian brands like CAMILLA AND MARC, Aje, and Tuchuzy.
IS HIGHER-CARAT GOLD BETTER?
When buying gold, you’ll notice the good stuff is described with a certain number of carats, similar to diamonds. 100 per cent pure gold is 24 carats, but the higher the number of carats, the softer it is, so you’ll need to take good care of it to avoid scratching or bending. Lower-carat gold is harder and therefore more durable.
Another thing worth noting is whether your jewellery is solid, gold-filled, plated or vermeil. Solid gold is the most expensive; gold-filled jewellery is cheaper yet still high quality; vermeil usually has a minimum thickness of 2.5 microns and is at least 10 carats; and gold-plated jewellery generally has a plating of about 0.5 microns, making it the cheapest and least durable.
WHAT TYPE OF SILVER IS BEST FOR JEWELLERY?
If you want high-quality silver jewellery, sterling silver is the best option – and in particular, you should aim for 925 sterling silver. This means it’s 92.5 per cent silver and 7.5 per cent copper, making it durable and long-lasting, so you’ll be able to treasure it forever.
